Grandpa's Poem I've toyed with the idea of including my grandfather's poem in this thread. It's very special to me. He was very ill and waiting for a lung transplant when he passed away. He published a book of poems and when planning his funeral services I suggested we use this poem in the service. I think he knew we would use it.
In The Garden of Your Memory by Bruce E. Benton (copyright)
Let me reach into your sorrow,
Let me hold the pain you bear,
Let me guide you through tomorrow,
Place your heart within my care.
Lay your head upon my shoulder,
Let me dry your tear stained eyes,
Of your trust I'll be the holder,
Border for your morning skies.
I shall sweep what falls before you,
Keep your pathway free of thorn,
Watch you play in gentle showers,
Keep you sheltered from the storm.
In the garden of your memory,
Only roses there shall grow,
Weeding out the pain, the sorrow,
Watch love gently sow each row.
