Thumbs up Great DR in Arkansas

Hi, everyone,

I live in the central Arkansas area near Conway and Little Rock.
My OB/GYN is very knowledgeable in PCOS and highly versed in ways to treat it. She can do everything except IVF. They are a great group of people at this office and always make their patients feel comfortable. They don't make you feel like a degenerate for being overweight.

The office is called Conway Women's Health Center.
I started out seeing the nurse practitioner, TJ Moix, and she is very educated in PCOS as well. The doctor I'm seeing now is Dr. Lawrence. She is fantastic. TJ did all she could with me and has now referred me to Dr. Lawrence for further assistance.

One office you do need to stay away from if you have PCOS is Conway Obsterics & Gynecology. The doctor I had that was absolutely horrible is Dr. Carole Jackson. She was very demeaning to me and had subtle ways of telling me I was fat. Her solution to PCOS was to "just lose weight". She's not knowledgeable in PCOS at all. She threw me on a bunch of meds and never tested me to see how my body reacted. Some of the meds TJ was shocked Dr. Jackson put me on because they were considered Pregnancy Category X drugs...meaning it's not meant for women who are trying to get pregnant because it can cause birth defects.

I know the Conway OBGYN Clinic. They delivered both my kids and the doctor I saw was wonderful. He has retired since he is having health issues, so I see Dr. Cole now. Dr. Cole is wonderful, understanding and will admit he knows nothing about PCOS. I went and saw him last year and we discussed my issues. He asked me if I had an endocrinologist and I do. He told me to let him know if I needed anything. He is wonderful and I love him. So, not every doctor in that clinic would treat a patient that way. I am sorry Dr. Jackson treated you that way. Dr. McChristian in that same clinic has been there for years and is a wonderful doctor too. I don't know if he has any knowledge of PCOS or not. I don't know that much about Dr. Jackson. I do know she was also there at the same time as the doctor that delivered my kids years ago. I am glad you found a good doctor to treat you. Conway OBGYN Clinic is a great clinic, just not for PCOS apparently.

Yeah, they were fine for just regular OB/GYN issues. That's why I mentioned that if anyone has PCOS, one should not go to them because they're not knowledgeable on how to treat it properly.

Are you type 2 also? I was wondering if they treat your diabetes too?

I'm sorry..I've been busy and haven't had time to respond. I grew up in Conway and see Dr. Cole in Conway, but I live in Northern Arkansas now. I don't see the obgyn's in my town because I am uncomfortable with seeing them for appts and then see them town...LOL...So, I go to conway for my GYN appts...LOL...That and I hate changing clinics and doctors...I am real modest and something about having them do THAT type of exam and then seeing them away from the office really freaks me out...LOL..but that is just me....I'm strange I guess.

Nah, I can completely relate. It's hard to leave a good dr once you found one.

I live in Morrilton and work in Conway, at UCA.
It's nice to meet a fellow Arkansan on here.

I wish I could remember what departments they work in. They really like their jobs....I miss Conway and living close to my family....Conway has really grown since I moved from there. I moved away in 95 right before the big boom.

Hey, I just wanted to mention that I live in Beebe and used the fertility clinic at the Freeway Medical Center (UAMS) in Little Rock for years . .. they were AWESOME! The doctors now created their own clinic call Arkansas Fertility and Gynecology and also specialize in PCOS. ALL of the successful IVF births have come from these docs. I highly recommend all of the docs, they are very well qualified . . . Dr. Miller is the most personable to me, though.

If you are TTC after being successful, I recommend Dr. Wendel from UAMS (in Freeway Medical Clinic) he is a high risk OB and absolutely a blessing. He has helped me birth all three of our beauties.

Good luck!

Thanks, Lovina.
My dr in Conway said that if she can't help me get pregnant, then she was going to refer me to the Arkansas Fertility Clinic. Thanks for the info on which dr you had the best experience with.
