I just got back from a visit/first meeting with Yshay Shlesinger, MD, in the Danville area off of 680. He just opened his practice in Jan, so I called yesterday and they fit me in TODAY!! Oh yeah, I have to cancel a SEPT appt with some other dude now! I was a little nervous as he wasn't recommended by anyone, but WANTED to get started with this diagnosis, so was ready to work with whatever I got.

Dr. Shlesinger was GREAT - he spent a TON of time with me, knew a TON about PCOS, and was able to read my blood tests from a few mos ago to see my LH, FSH levels were off in ratio, and, along with my symptoms, said I was textbook and he was ready to prescribe Metformin! We discussed dosage, and are starting at 1000 daily (2x500 XR), but I can move it to 1500 if I want, after a month - just let them know. He'd go as high as 2000 if it was warranted. I am not TTC or wanting to anytime soon, so this is mostly to regulate hormones and help me keep weight off! And fight the fatigue I constantly feel!

I am thrilled with this new endo and am giving his name to everyone I know, including the two doctor offices that recommended the OTHER guy - good to have an option that you can get into FAST as opposed to MONTHS from when you want to!
