I personally did not like Dr. Zaks because he didn't do all of the appropriate tests on me to see if anything was truly wrong. I went to him with some abnormal blood work and hirsutism and he blew off EVERY ENDOCRINE DISORDER WITHOUT DOING THE APPROPRIATE TESTS because I'm thin, don't have a problem with controlling my weight, and have always had regular periods. We all know that normal cycles and normal weight do not eliminate PCOS, but he thinks it does. What gets me even more is that at the time I wasn't on medications so my results would have been accurate if he just would have ordered the tests. I called him at least twice and told him that he really should do such and such tests but he refused to order them and claimed they weren't necessary.
I have since moved away and have seen a new doctor, who apparently researches PCOS. I still have no diagnosis, but at least I had tests that I could (couldn't have them all because I'm on the pill that Dr. Zaks prescribed) to rule out cushings, hyperprolactemia, thyroid, ovarian cysts etc. This doctor agreed that it wasn't right of Dr. Zaks to not perform these tests. It was his duty as my doctor to make sure that there was nothing wrong with me and he didn't do that. Unfortunately, he is the only endo accepting new patients in Grand Forks. I would go to a doctor in Fargo.
