Great Fertility team in New York City and Staten Island
Hello all,
I just wanted to share my experience at the Kofina's Fertility Institute. In a few words, they were great! They are knowledgeable, PCOS friendly and covered by many insurance providers.
A friend actually recommened them a few years ago, but I didn't bother to go. I thought this was a lost cause. Then I finally did some research and many people highly recommeded the fertility institute despite one or two negative reviews. I am highly critical and found it to be a good first time experience. They are going to run a multitude of tests in order to determine what my TTC issues are...
If you live in the New York City or Tri-state area, I highly recommend this team if you have had difficulty finding someone who takes great interest in your fertility health needs.

Hi, I actually just did a search for NY and found this thread! I am currently doing my first injectable cycle with an RE in Jersey but after talking to some other patients I learned that I may be frequently late for work. This morning for example I was there from 6:15 a.m. until 7:45 before I was even seen. I wound up leaving at 830 and was late for work back in SI which was not good! If this cycle isn't successful I know where I am going!!!

So far, so good...If you have an appointment with them, it's usually within a few minutes of the scheduled time. I havent done all of the tests, however my experience has been good thus far. I don't like to have people wasting my time as if I don't have anything important to do with my life besides sitting in a waiting room all day!
I have only read one negative review and my experience was the opposite. The poster stated that they rushed patients along, kept them waiting and had a poor bedside manner.
Perhaps this is TTC down time for some women! The place was organized and welcoming IMO.

That is good to hear. I believe that many of the clinics rush to an extent just based on their case load. I'm somewhat of an in and out type of person and I really don't like to be kept waiting!
Good luck with your testing. Not so fun!! For me everything was a piece of cake except the HSG, do you have to have that test? If so that is painful but short.

I'm so happy that someone else is benefitting from this info...
I have to do the HSG; I heard all about it! Thanks for letting me know that its a short duration. I was really worried about how long I would be uncomfortable!
Keep me posted if you should decided to go to Kofinas!

HSG = super short. I have heard a lot of people were not as uncomfortable as I was but my other friend and I were in a lot of discomfort. The duration of pain max a minute or so. For me they injected the dye a few times. Each time was a little less painful. The taking out whatever instrument was unpleasant but not serious pain.
I will let you know if I decide to try Kofinas! I will know after this cycle/2WW. I can only hope to be on a 9 month break!

Zandy
Hi Zandy, yikes! I'm sorry you've had such a rough time lately! Hang in there and keep your head up. I'm dealing with ttc! What a pain in the butt! PCOS stinks, but it is manageable, and there is lots of hope, so don't let yourself get too stressed!
My doctor is in Jersey as of now, but there are many in Bklyn, Manhattan and Staten Island. I would look there. PCOS without ttc can normally be handled by your OBGYN.
If you have PCOS it is important to learn if you are IR (Insulin Resistant) did you find out that? Did they start you on Metformin or Glucophage? This will help your poly cystic ovaries as well as your insulin resistance could help you to lose weight, my OB started me on it not a specialist. I have Lean PCOS meaning I am skinny (used to be underweight) now just skinny but I still take the Metformin and it helps with cysts and with miscarriages.
Any questions or just looking for support feel free to ask. The girls on this board are awesome!
Take care and hugs!
