Default great ice cream find -- splenda

I cannot tolerate aspartame, so I'm thrilled with the increasing number of foods I find that use Splenda instead. I have tried one Splenda ice cream in the past, and it was not too good, but I found one that, I swear, you wouldn't even notice it was artificial sweetener unless you really thought about it and tried to consciously taste it.

If you have Kroger where you live, try the new Kroger Deluxe Reduced Fat Sugar Free Ice Cream in the flavor "Butter Almond" (tastes like Butter Pecan). Even the texture is surprisingly good for a reduced-fat ice cream. It also comes in vanilla and strawberry, but I have not tried those. I think in this flavor the "butteriness" overrides the Splenda taste. It also makes it taste very rich, so a small serving seems like plenty.

Even DH admitted it was surprisingly good and he usually will eat Breyers or nothing.

Default Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm always on the lookout for great low carb treats!

Would you mind posting the nutritional content of the ice cream, please?

Thanks again!

Blue Bunny is also a Splenda Ice cream. I LOVE it!! It's sold at most Wal-Mart Super Centers.

Another is LeCarb...... which has only 4gms carbs.

Blue Bunny also makes fudge pops, ice cream bars.. lots of things with splenda.

I am sold on Blue Bunny ice cream. It is so good. I can't really tell the difference between the S/F (Splenda) and the regular. We tried the Rocky Road tonight. It had an excellent chocolate flavor and had nuts, but no marshmellows. DARN, can't have everything.

Mmm! The Kroger Deluxe with Splenda is so good! I found it a couple of months ago and I couldn't believe it! The only flavor I can consistantly find is choc chip, which is ok by me!

We found another brand at Kroger that uses Splenda, but I don't remember the brand. Something that starts with a "P". There are a variety of flavors the typical chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, which are all good, but they have others like moose tracks and butter pecan. We've had the strawberry, chocolate peanut butter cup, and the moose tracks. All were good, except the moose tracks needed more candy to give it flavor.

We thought this brand was good until we discovered Kroger's brand today. I debated between mint chocolate chip or cherry chocolate chip, and finally went with the cherry. Almost as good as the "real" ice cream.

Shannon it might have been perfect choice maybe? I work at Fred Meyers and that was bought out by Kroger a few years ago... and they have to store brands perfect choice and Kroger!

Nope, I finally took note of the brand tonight, and it was "Pierre's". Never heard of that brand before now, so I don't know anything about it. However, the more I taste the Kroger brand, the more I prefer it over this. Not that it's bad, because it isn't, but it has more of that fake ice cream taste than Kroger does.

Thanks for the info on Perfect Choice. My brother loves their ice cream, and we were trying to figure out if that was another Kroger brand. Looks like it is.

I think Le Carb ice cream is the best! i can only find it in 1 pint containers at Wal Mart but it's very good and most of the flavors have only 3 net carbs per serving. the cinnamon one is the best, i think. and i have a sensitivity to dairy products, but Le Carb has never given me a problem.
