I'm so glad I found this thread! I'll have to look into the Saw Palmetto and Wild Yam and run it by my doctor. I've been looking for a natural way to decrease my testosterone levels (especially so I can start laser hair removal) and this sounds very interesting! Also, I like that not many people have been experiencing weird side effects from this...it stinks feeling sick all the time from BCP's, Metformin, etc. blah!

If you are trying to get pregnant you don't want to use saw palmetto found this on Internet " Saw palmetto (used by many women to reduce andorgen levels) can cause birth defects in male babies because of its ability to reduce testosterone levels. Don't take it at all if there is any chance of pregnancy." I wouldn't take it if your tryi g to get pregnant if it messes with your hormones then it might counter act with your fertility mess as well. Your dr will probably say the same thing but the yam rootlooks like it could be beneficial once you become pregnant. Again before taking anything I would consult with your dr just because something is natural doesn't mean it is safe.

Ask your doctor if taking daily progesterone would affect these drugs. My guess is that it probably would. I'd like to hear from someone who's been on it and ovulating regularly and how many mg they're using. So far I haven't O'd this cycle and I'm taking a pretty low dose.

i was just wondering if you girls have noticed any more results from saw palmetto? I was also just wondering if you girls have any more excess hair, like on your stomache, etc and if this has gotten better since you have started taking saw palmetto? Thanks!!

I don't know if there is a sticky somewhere but I know saw palmetto has a binding affect on testosterone. http://www.wdxcyber.com/ninfer07.htm

and wild yam is a balancing progesterone.

So far the combo is working great for me. I've had nearly a 100% reduction in unwanted facial hair. My only possible side effect was sore breasts for a week before ovulation. I hope there are more people trying this out. I am so happy I don't have to deal with the hair anymore!

I was on saw palmetto for excess facial and body hair and it didnt help , but it did regulate my periods. I wonder if this is common with saw palmetto. Im thinking adding wild yam + saw palmetto may do the trick for the excess hair. ??

As I mentioned in the above post , licorice + peony is helping a lot with the excess hair but it is expensive and the licorice makes me feel hyper (heart pounding and inability to sleep) when I take too much, so Id rather take something void of side effects if possible.

I do understand that what works for some does not work for others though....PCOS is a complex syndrome.....

Hiya Moonstarfalling! I know that this may seem like a silly question, but what do you mean by 100% reduction? Do you mean that you have not found any more unwanted hair or do you mean that the combo had made the unwanted haie dissappear? Thanks

OHH WOW! I found this thread by doing search for "facial hair". I was intrigue by all of you guys comments... 90% to 100% reduction? I'm like to afraid of taking anything. I currently dont take anything, never been on BCP and have regular periods, since I track it every month. I'm currently looking at the saw palmetto online and I soooo hope that more people show good side effects.. How this combination came about? Why not many of us know... I'm like sooo afraid, since the label shows only use for men... but DAMN! anything to get my facial hair undercontrol.. on my day off, I dont shave it and try to do absolutly nothing! .. so I let it grow to have a day of relief. I hate looking myself in the mirror; all the dark hairs, stuble, chin, jawline, neck.. very noticeable if I let it grow!.. So... Hope you all feel some positive results and can share!!!

Thanks!

I mean that after I did my usual plucking nothing ever came back. I have a totally smooth face now. It's awesome! Before I had to pluck or shave every day or at least every other day because it was growing so fast, dark and coarse.

My other possible side effect that I've noticed is that I have lots of CM. I have had issues with low CM the last few years and now I feel like I'm 19 again lol. We don't have to use lube anymore which is great! Lots of EWCM around O time.

this is great!

I think the reason why plucking would be better than shaving is that you remove the hair from the root, and the new comes back when there is a new life cycle of hair. the hair will grow in a lot thinner if it is not influenced by testosterone.

With shaving it would take longer to see the good results as you have to wait for a new life cycle of hair to begin growing through, under the new hormone regime.

Moonstar do you take 200mg of each herb per day?
