I am going to make an appointment this week to see a Gyno about my PCOS. I have been referred to her via my family doctor. The thing is, I have basically read that an Endo doctor is who you want to see.....but I am being referred to a Gyno. So which one am I meant to see? Who will give me the most help? I am so confused now. I don't know if I should risk wasting lots of money to visit this Gyno, or if I should forget about it and try an Endo doctor instead. Arrrghh!!!!

Their title isn't the biggest factor in your care. Initially, you want the doctor who is well read on pcos.
If you haven't been over to the other part of SC, head over and do some reading on your own. ( http://www.soulcysters.COM ). That way you'll be able to tell whether or not you've got a good gyno.

When i first moved to the west coast i had to find a new doctor and obgyn doc aswell. After my inital visit my obgyn doc suggested i see an endo for help with my pcos issues??
The best advice i can give you is research, if you can find the right doc from the get go you will save yourself alot of money and time.
Thanks Debs, I couldn't even get in with the Gyno my Doctor referred me to, as they weren't taking on new patients until March NEXT year which is waaay too long away to wait. So I did my own research and I found an Endo who specialises in PCOS and Infertility. It's going to cost a bit anyway, but it's not like I will be going there every week, so it will be worth it to get the best treatment possible.

I have found both working together are the best. My gyno knows my endo and they get together on cases of PCOS frequently. The gyno helps with the gyno problems with PCOS, prescribes me Provera as needed, and wants to help me conceive (as well as any hormone problems.) The endo gives me the metformin and helps with the insulin resistance.
I did local research and found the best in my city for PCOS. Good luck! Perhaps the gyno can refer you to a good endo?

Hey sinnie, I actually found an Endo who specialises in PCOS and infertility...I am going to be having my first appointment in about 6 weeks time. I guess if I don't like her I can move on .... but I think that she will be good enuff!

If she specializes in PCOS she should be good. Of course it's good for any women at all to see a gyno at least once a year. Let us know what happens!!

Yes that's why I chose to go with her as I am assuming she knows what she is doing and she specialises in infertility as well so that is another good point. I will update once I have had my appointment
