I agree, both are great. I'd prob go with who you can get in sooner to see. My goal with Dr. M was to get pregnant. When I started seeing Dr. Sherif ttc wasn't something we were thinking about and she never mentioned putting me on the pill as part of her treatment plan.
Hello, can someone tell me which of the 2 doctors, Dr. Sherif or Dr. M is better for not putting back on pill.......my daughter was on yasmin for years and had terrible withdrawal symptoms and now has been off 3 months and hasn't gotten her period and is starting to break out again, and who knows what damage will happen again to her hair, last time she had teremendous fallout........she was just dx'd PCOS, and is desperate to go back on pill to stop breakouts etc. and get her period, but I believe yasmin is poison and worse thing and hope a doctor doesn't prescribe this but tries to ease her back to normal if possible by other means........but now i am worried Sherif will put her back on pill...she has appt for june 4th. Appreciate any comments.
Did your daughter have problems AFTER stopping BCP only? Being on ANY medication long term and stopping abruptly would cause some issues, yes? I had horrible reactions to stopping my BCP, now I am back on this time Yasmin over the Ortho Tri. Finally starting to feel normal again. Your daughter is not out of line to want to go back. For some of us, it restores normalcy. Dr.Sherif will prescribe a BCP for your daughter if she requests it and thinks it will help her. If I may say without seeming out of line, let the doc and your daughter fight this horrible syndrome the way they see fit. My mom lives with me and sees every phase of my treatment, my good days and horrible ones, even comes to the doc with me sometimes. I would pull all the hair I have left out if she started stepping in saying what I wanted to do was poison. It would drive me nuts.

I think when you have a child and see the dangers of her taking a pill that only harms her in the effort to just temporarily ease the 'symptoms' of acne or irregular periods, you also would react. I have seen her beautiful hair now become thin, and I have read the millions of women the devastations that yasmin has done; this is the only pill where there are websites dedicated only to the harm it has done for so many women, and you might want to do a little research before you advise me to butt out. My daughter asked for my assistance, and the only reason she would want to go back on the pill is to control her acne; obviously she cannot stay on this pill forever and when she does go off (again) her withdrawal symptoms will be the same or much much worse. This pill is not a cure and if you read the side effects, they fill up an entire page. The idea is to try to balance her hormones; not by just very easily sticking her on a pill that may 'temporarily' balance the hormones but cause many other problems in the short/mediium term.
I will again say go to the Dr and have your daughter tell them her probs with BCP. You need to bite the bullet persay. No amount of talking/typing will resolve this issue.
funny example to lighten the mood-I am SEVERELY allergic to poison ivy. I need a new primary Dr. I have pi killing 3 of the trees on my property. I have said for 2 years how much I hate the pi killing the trees but I was allergic. So I finally bit the bullet b/c I was sick of talking and not doing. I set up a new primary. They do same day sick appts-12 hrs on prednisone and my allergic reaction diminshes. I brought home from my research job, hair net, gloves, tyvek suit, face mask, and safety glasses. I bought the pi soap. I have it arranged with my mom to be there and as soon as I am done she will open doors and help me deposit pi ridden objects in trash and laundry then she will turn th shower water on for me, close the curtain, etc etc so i touch nothing in the house and attempt to prevent pi by using the special soap and a cold shower (do't want to open your pores)
So to all-Have a GOOD day!

Please don't get me wrong, a mother's love and support are a priceless thing. My mom is my best friend. Here's where I guess I came off the wrong way. The pill wasn't harming her until she stopped taking it, just like me! Some stupid endocrinologist asked me to stop after 8 years being on it. I suffered severe hair loss and stopped periods too. It was awful. I know the pill can't be taken forever, I know it's not the greatest med in the world, BUT if it was giving her any normalcy in her life its worth it. Coming from someone who feels like a FREAK when not on it I can sympathize with her. I have had people telling me I am "band-aid"ing and quick fixing, but ma'am when you have PCOS and nothing else works you bite the bullet and do what you have to. Some people have had success on different meds, some people have different cases of PCOS, everyone is different but she sounds alot like me. I hope her case is alleviated really soon with whatever she chooses and please try to reassure her that sudden hair loss after coming off the pill (as long as it wasn't there beforehand) is usually reversible. A dermatologist actually dx'ed me with Telogen Effluvium. Sorry if I came off *****y, I kinda read it after the fact and thought about deleting it but it kind of is the way I feel, I know I hate when people judge my choices like that when they aren't the ones with PCOS. Didn't help that I'm kinda PMSing too. =(

In retrospect I obviously had PCOS also because I had same symtoms of irregular periods and acne when i was young, but I survived it quite well, never going on the pill. Her hair was beautiful, her acne was only on her forehead, she has beautiful skin; now whenever she goes off yasmin she has terrible acne flare-ups and terrible hairloss. You are only reading what you want to read; try reading the websites of the dangers caused by yasmin; I prefer she take another bcp, anything but this pill. It is the ONLY pill that has websites where thousands if not more women talk about the harm it has done them. If you don't mind the side effects that's fine, but I am trying to let my daughter know the problems this can cause.........it would have been nice if many people were alerted beforehand to the side effects & problems that VIOXX caused, right? . Also apparently there is one top specialist in NY that treats only PCOS (that she also has an appt) and from what I read, he says there is only one type of bcp that is combatibe with pcos and it's not yasmin. He has treated 1500 women for pcos and lectures all over the world. She is going to both him & Sherif.

Hello Ladies ! I was diagnosed with PCOS 10 years and 75 pounds ago. I have seen many doctors about my weight. I have gotten everything from " Just join Weight Watchers" to " I guess you're gonna have to walk away from the table hungry". Someone recommended Dr Sherif to me and I went to see her last week. She is, without a doubt, a wonderful, wonderful doctor. I was in her office about 45 minutes. She answered every question I had , listened intentivly, and even let me cry in her office without feeling embaressed. One thing she did say to me was " I can, and will, promise you my best in treating you." After being jerked around by doctors for years, I finally feel as if someone cared and for the first time, hopeful.
I thought I would just give my two-cents about her.
