Default Great thing for acne, anywhere on the body!

Tea Tree Oil is an amazing product for acne. You can usually purchase it from a pharmacy in the section for vitamins/herbs/natural treatments in a small bottle. What I do is use tissue/cotton ball morning and night to wipe my face from top to bottom with it after I wash my face (Spectro Jel). My skin is great, since I have been using it for quite a while now along with a beta hydroxy toner (which I have been using forevery). Before this my skin was breaking out with big deep zits all around my nose and cheek area. Tea tree is not used much in Canada, in Australia everyone uses it and it is antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral. To some people it doesn't smell great (like a pine tree kinda) but it works great if you can bear with the smell. The good thing about it to is that over time it doesn't lose it's affectiveness (like antibiotics). I know I sound like a infomercial, but for those who are skeptical, just try using it on one part of your face or body consistently for a while and you will see a big difference! I use 100% tea tree oil or you can use a product available in stores called @tmosphere Tea Tree Oil stick (in Canada-@Shopper's Drug Mart). Good luck everyone! Sarah

Sarah,
I have never heard of this but figure it is worth a try. I thought I had my acne under control but it has gone haywire on me again
Guess it is time for a trip to Shopper's.
Thanks for the info!

I would like to second Sarahboh's opinion! Tea Tree is amazing stuff-although....my skin is too sensitive, so I have to dilute it 2 part water to 1 part tea tree. If I don't I get burned (to the point of blisters)....so be careful when trying it.

I have a friend who is diabetic and suffered from nail fungus. She has a lot of medical problems and her doctor didn't want her to use the antifungal medications. She tried tea tree and within a few weeks, her infection was gone. Her doctor was amazed!

Ok, so I bought some Tree Tea Oil yesterday from Shopper's Drug Mart. I put it on last night before bed (after I washed my face) and again this morning after my shower.
The smell is pretty strong, but I think I'll get used to it.
Here's the question: Do I just leave it on? Or do I rinse it off after a while?
I have been leaving it on, but I wasn't sure.

Thanks!

Hi Beth!

Yeah I completely agree, the smell is very strong. The first night I put the stuff on my husband told me that he could continue smelling it for hours. Guess he got used to it Anyways, I leave it on overnight and all during the day. If it doesn't cause any sensitivity on your skin, then you should be fine. I hope it works well for you and you get used to the smell soon! If you have any more questions, feel free to msg me

Good luck,
Sarah

I third Sarah! Tea Tree Oil is friggin great on those evil, second head type pimples. Although I don't use it on all my face it works very well. I use the Burt's Bee's version which comes in a stick type thing. It usually heals them alot faster than letting em sit there. Another thing I use thats similar for when I get folliculitis (or when they open up and become sores) is something kind of strange. I use honey! Like tea tree it has a antimicrobial effect. I usually put it on a band aid and let it sit there for a couple of hours, its very neat how fast they heal!

Thank you Sarah & Tara!
I haven't heard of using honey before. I guess that would be natural unpasturized honey? I'll have to keep that in mind.

Default Amazing Tea Tree

Yes, Tea Tree is great. I have used a facial wash made from Tea Tree oil. You can usually find these products at Health Food stores like Wild Oats or health co-ops. It is certainly worth a try and if it doesn't work for anyone for acne it has tons of other uses, check it out on the net to see what its uses are..you'll be amazed.

Sarah,
So far so good. I am now pretty much used to the smell. DH still isn't but I know he will get there.
The acne I had when I first applied it is now gone and I have a clear complexion I guess the real test will be just before my period, as that is when I really, really, really break out.
Thanks again for the tip!

I have used tea tree oil here for years - its much more available and recognised as an acne curer here, and has been for some time. My current method of choice of application is the cleansing wipes. I use them a couple of times a day (when I remember basically) and then moisturise with Dove. Seems to work. Strange that its just hitting Canada????

Anyway off topic posting coming up - I'm just back home from a holiday in canada (in Guelph) visiting relatives - it was great - and I arrived just in time for the weather it seems Ive ben a few times now, and its great fun seeing everyone again...

Hustler,
Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip to Guelph. I like that area too.

My forehead seems to be getting more acne now so I guess I'll be putting the Tea Tree Oil on a little heavier in that area.
You have wipes? That is so cool. Can't wait for that.
