Post green tea and hair loss question

I've read a french article the other day that mentions green tea (drinking it or its tablets) help with with hair loss the same way that saw palmetto does with no counter effects to the BCP. along with that, it helps lower cholesterol and helps with the weight loss.

I was wondering if any of you have experienced reduced shedding with green tea and if you could tell me more about it?

Thanks
Melanie

I haven't drank much green tea because of the taste. What do you do to make it taste better?

BTW, what have you done to loose 65 pounds? Wow, that's good![font=times new roman][size=3][color=darkblue][i]

Default heh...

I've started taking 300mg green tea extract. I love green tea, then again i never drank tea before so i got used to the taste quickly... but taking it in capsules would be much better for those that do not like the taste.

note: 300mg - 8 to 10 cups of green tea and the recommended dosage on the bottle is 1 to 3 300mg capsules daily with a meal. (wow i couldn't drink 30 cups of tea.. lol, i'd be spending my time in the washroom! hahaha)

as for losing my 65, it took over a year to be honest. lots of ups and downs. i get on track then all of a sudden i find candy! heh. not good. met has helped a lot though, i take 1500mg daily. its helped me maintain. which is awesome but my diet could improve. and I tried going at the gym 3 times weekly but haven't gone in well over a month because of work.. Now that jan is here things will die down and i will start going again.. Its hard work, don't get me wrong... but the energy and the feeling of doing something good for my health is just overwhelming its addictive.

Melanie

First of all, I gotta congratulate you on your weight loss, too!

This is very interesting about green tea possibly helping with hair loss. I like green tea and have been hearing more and more about the benefits of it. Not just for hair loss, but for lowering cholesterol and other things. Maybe I should make it one of my New Year's Resolutions to drink more green tea. I do like the taste of it, and I think as long as I don't overdo it, it couldn't hurt! The way my hair is falling like rain, I will try anything, and green tea seems a pleasant way to go. I didn't know there were capsules available, too. That's pretty cool!

Off to do a web search now on green tea benefits!

Thanks for posting this!

Kathryn

I purchased my bottle in a natural health store.. but i think i got tricked. I got my standerdized 60 capsules for $14.80cdn at 300mg and 95% tea polyphenols (high potency) and if i remember correctly GNC had 120 capsules for 21 bux.. or something like that. I just don't remember the mg dosage and the % of tea polyphenols.

the higher the % the better as it does more for you than a lower % would for the amount of mg.. and i think that 95% is the max. I've seen 50% and 80% and the lady at the store suggested the 95% for the results I want. and the fact that it doesn't counter affect the BCP is a bonus.

Check at a regular drug store too.. though i don't think the mg would be as high.

Let me know what you find.

Silly question, but when you make yourself a cuppa of green tea; do you make it the same as regular black tea? I have my black tea with milk and 1 sugar.

Joanne,

You shouldn't add anything in your green tea as it minimizes its effects.. but if you prefer it with sugar and milk go for it..

I'm new to the whole green tea scene - but I'm quite impressed.

I just saw green tea capules in a stand up by the cash registers at Walmart. It was being marketed as a new weight loss booster

And, I read an article the other day about how well green tea wards off infection. The article even went so far to say that if you drink 9 cups of tea a day you should never get a cold.

I immediately bought some lol.

I wonder if it would help with the excess hair growth like they say Saw Palmetto does. Anyone have any idea?

Hi all,

Thank you for this information. I do not live in north america and was wondering if there were different brands of 'green tea' that I can source via the internet.

Thanks again

Green tea does have some DHT inhibiting qualities, unfortunately though they are not strong enough to rely on for hair loss.

It is a good complementary side treatment that you can try.

Other good supplements and vitamins include

Flax seeds
evening primrose oil
silica
MSM
grapeseed extract
B complex vitamins
Vitamin E
