...didn't know if i should post this here but it sounded like the best place... i am looking for a good place to purchase green tea... i want something a little better than what i can get at wal-mart or somewhere like that... i don't mind ordering online... i don't mind if it is loose leaf either... actually i would prefer that... anybody know some good places...
You have to use the "*" after the word 'tea' since it's only 3 letters.
Doovie, have you tried Whole Foods market?
...i went to that link but all i saw was about green tea and hair loss... nothing about green tea and excess hair... did i just miss it... i have looked at a few whole food stores but was not happy with the selection... i am going out of town this weekend... will check there...

The same action which causes scalp hair loss is the same 'action' which causes excess body hair - the problem is related to excess androgens. That's why Rx meds for excess androgens in women will help both hair loss AND excess body hair.

The best place that I have found to get tea of any kind, and a wide variety of green teas is Republic of Tea. They have loose leaf teas and they also have handy tea bags. I have a cup every morning and am so upset when I start to run low! Check out their website @ http://www.republicoftea.com/

I'm finding it cheerful that I'm applying to work in a tea-store, and tea-threads keep popping up everywhere, perhaps it's a good omen! Or maybe I'm just hyper aware...
But yes Green Tea does go "bad", as like any tea, however the time before it goes bad varies then from black tea. Green tea is best within a seventh month window form when it was processed, that means from when it was picked, rolled and processed, to when it hits your cup. As teas travel a long time, and no-one's really too sure of when they were packaged, look for an expiry date on the box, and follow a few simple suggestions to make your tea last and taste great:
-Packagaing: Also keep you tea in an enclosed container, preferbaly glass, stainless steel, or porcelain/ceramic. It's also best to keep it out of bright light. Plastic can actually break-down somewhat over time and "taint" the tea. Keeping it in the foil that usually comes around it is good too!
-Look at it! Check the tea periodically to make sur eit doesn't have anything unwelcome in it, and when brewing the tea (especally loose-leaf), make sure that the leaves are actually "blooming", that is opening up. If you have little gnarled bits floating about, and it's taking forever to brew...well...your tea isn't very happy.
-Smell it. Teas have an incredibley-diverse range of aromas, and one thing it doesn't smell, is musty! Actually there are a couple varities that do...If it's musty, it's probably gone "bad"
Green-Tea is one of the best teas for medicinal benefits because it's the least processed. usually it's just been steamed (sometimes omitted) shredded (sometimes omitted) and rolled, then left to dry. Black teas are 'fermented' which means essentailly, left to sit for a while, until they begin to darken on their own.
...I kind of took over the thread...Sorry! I'm going over my tea-knowledge as I have a job-interview with a tea-shop coming up soon...and I want to be ready!

Tori ~ Wow, that info. was amazing, good luck with your interview! BTW - are you a Star Wars fan?
Doovie ~ I found you! You deleted your siggy, or it just isn't coming up fast enough on my computer. I love green tea - the one I am drinking is Celestial Seasonings De-caf, Honey, Camomille. MMM, yummy! But that you can get just about anywhere, so it probably doesn't help in your selection. Good luck finding just the right one - let us know when you do, may be worth a try!

I thought I should post this here as I noticed a couple of women are TTC and no doubt there are many more out there reading this too who are TTC.
There is a recent study published regarding green tea intake and those who are ttc. Unfortunately I can't give you a reference right now as I can't get onto my university server but Wikipedia has brief descriptions with regards to green tea and folate absorption.
Basically if you are ttc you should avoid green tea as it blocks the enzyme necessary for folate to be utilized. Folate deficiencies are associated with neural tube defects in the infant.
