Default Green Tea + "Skinny *****" Diet success story

After 6 years I'm finally back to having regular periods. I tried several drugs (metformin, clomid, etc.) + several herbal supplements (dong quai, vitex, wild yam, etc.) and nothing worked.

Since I'm getting married soon, I'm on the Skinny ***** diet. It's pretty much a vegan diet (no meat, no dairy) but I don't follow it to the letter. Every now and then I eat a piece of fish or lean meat. Anyway, in the morning you eat a ton of fruit and drink water or tea (no coffee). For lunch & dinner you can have any vegan meal you want. All organic food is strongly recommended but I don't strictly follow that rule because my budget doesn't allow it. No food after 8pm. I was on the diet for about 3 weeks before my first period started and I had lost about 10 lbs.

Then I started taking a travel sized mug of green tea to work each day. It was intended to help my throat, since I'm on the phone quite a bit at my job. Then I started drinking two mugs (approx. 48 oz) of green tea per day, one in the morning and one at work. Two weeks after starting the tea, I had my first period.

I'm on my third regular month, which is shocking due to all of the wedding stress. I'm not sure whether or not it's the diet or the tea that's working, but I thought I'd share it, in case it works for someone else. My theory is the vegan diet + tea rids your body of a lot of toxins - that is, if PCOS is triggered by environmental factors or the chemicals/hormones in your food.

That's really interesting. I've been "cleaning" up my diet and am most likely heading down the Skinny ***** road as well. I think green tea has so many benefits too.
Congratulations on your success and upcoming marriage!

Sounds really good to me ! So I believe you havent been taking any medication whatsoever? Just this diet and green tea?
Can you tell me more about the diet...no milk allowed then is it? I do eat fish once a week...is that ok? Can you please list what I should and shouldn't eat? Bread, pasta, rice, vegetables, fruits etc...

That's great you've had such success! I've had moderate success with a mostly raw vegan diet. I also drink a lot of tea, detox tea, kombucha and green tea concentrate pills. I used to have one AF per year but got my cycles down to an average of 45 days. The most I've ever ovulated in 5 times in one year though IIRC. The better I am on my diet the better my cycle is.

I know I am not the original poster, but to answer your question about the skinny b diet, it's a vegan diet...that means no eggs, dairy, chicken, fish or seafood, pork, veal, beef. The OP said she eats occasional fish, so it's really up to you how close you follow the diet.
You can eat:
non dairy milks like almond, soy, hemp milks
non dairy yogurts (like Silk yogurt), ice creams, and other alternatives to dairy
beans
nuts
seeds
all fruit
all vegetables
Whole grain breads, pastas, etc
In the book they have recommended meal plans and suggested foods you can purchase at your local grocer, health food store, or Whole Foods. There are a ton of foods they recommend, even healthy "junk" foods. They also emphasize buying organic products.
I have the book and have been contemplating the vegan diet or the Skinny B diet to help with weight loss and overall health. Actually, I plan to start at least a veg diet (still including some eggs and dairy) after we finish using the meats in the freezer. Hope this helps!
