I'm usually a huge coffee drinker. Like, 4+ cups a day. I love the stuff. Well, I ran into information on the internet that states it's bad for people with diabetes (in my case insulin resistant). I also read that green tea is excellent for people with insulin resistance. So... if the culprit is caffeine... how can that be? Is it the amount of caffeine? Coffee is usually my morning pick me up!
Has anyone switched to green tea and noticed anything ... healthwise?
I have been wondering for awhile if Green Tea has caffeine and your post urged me to finally use my search engine and check it out.
Although you can get caffeine free green tea it looks like it does have caffeine...possibly even more.
If anyone can proove me otherwise please do...I'm currently not allowed anything with caffeine & I have a huge tub of green tea icecream in my freezer & I have been having quite the hankering for it lately.
I think 5 ounces of coffee has about 80mg of caffeine and one pouch of green tea only has 20mg. Hope that helps. I am just curious how one is better for your health than the other! Odd!
Edit: Those are rough averages, I forget where I found them!
Since I have been on Metformin, I have dropped 12-15lbs (in 6weeks). My coffee intake (2-3 cups) had decresed to (1/2-1 cup) due to the stomac cramps. I have been drinking Rasberry Ginger Tea after supper and the cramping has decresed. I think I will switch to Green Tea in the morning (or at least after the 1/2 cup of coffee)
This has been great info to read! I love tea! I usually drink 2 cups in the morning...and I drink iced tea on the weekends! Wow, I actually like something that's GOOD for me! LOL
