Hello to all the UK Cysters who post on here, I'm so glad to have discovered this site!! I was properly diagnosed with having PCOS in 1996 and was put on the pill Micronor which didn't really help matters. I stopped taking it a year ago to try and conceive and found myself bleeding for 3 weeks and have intense pain in my ovaries again. The doctor I saw didn't know what to do and spoke to a gynae consultant at a local hospital who told her to send me in straight away. After a bit of a wait to see him, Mr Roberts was great and it was the first decent explanation of PCOS that I've ever had, and it was said simply enuf for both me and my partner to understand it. He gave me norethisterone to stop the bleeding and some painkillers and within 2 days the bleeding had stopped. I have my next appointment with him on Monday, fingers crossed I'll start treatment. He said before that his first order of business is to get my insulin levels down to help me so I'll be put on Metformin then we can concentrate on everything else. I came out there as high as a kite that I would at last get the help I craved (this comes 2 years after going to my old doctor armed with stuff I'd got off the internet about Metformin and she refused point blank to give it to me!). Anyway, hopefully the only way is up now. It's wonderful to speak to women who have been thru the same thing, with all the side effects and the shaving and the depression. I'm on Lustral for the depression side of things but because I lost my job (they fired me while I was off sick on a doctor's note) I can't afford my prescription and can't get them yet. I've been off them for a week and I've been crying like a baby over stupid little things. Anyway, enuf of my waffle. I just wanted to say hello, if anyone in the UK would like to email or add me to their Yahoo messenger or something then you are more than welcome.
What a rough time you are having! Can't you take your ex-employers to a tribunal? It seems to me that they must have broken some employment law if you were off sick!
Sounds like your Gynae is a Gem!
I hope you find the comfort and friendship I have found on this site and I look forward to getting to know you better!

Hi Anz
I'm so glad you found us, this is a great community. It's great that your new consultant is taking things forward, I hope that is you on the road to better health.
I'm sorry to hear about the other problems you've had - I'm with Lisa on that - there must be something you can do. Perhaps talk to the local CAB about your options if you feel up to it.
Let us know how your appointment goes on Monday and best of luck with the Met.
Love
Deeds

I certainly do feel part of the family already and I've only been here a few days. It's wonderful finding out all this info and being able to compare thoughts and have a rant when you feel like it. I just wish I'd found this place sooner. But better late than never is a favourite saying of mine!!
