Talking Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I am still waiting!

I think my hormones have forgotten I am here.... I think they think I have left this planet right now!

Still no AF and today makes it 270 days

4 months on Met at least 2 months on 2000mg a day and zilch!

I completely quit my Anti-Depressants now, and I am thinking of dropping the Met to 1500mg again, as I am sick of swallowing pills if they are not working.

I can control my diabeties on a lower does with no problems. Talking to my GP is pointless and although I like him and don't want to change I guess he's not clued up on PCOS! My next hospital appointment is end of May....

Hi Alison

It takes a while for it to work. I hate to ask this question, but how is your diet and exercise. Before I get flamed, I know we get fed up of hearing about it but....listen to my experience....

The metformin only worked for me when I went on a really, really low carb and low fat diet and did 1 hour in the gym three to four times a week. Probably one of those sessions was in the pool.

I have been on the metformin for ages now and my periods are coming around every 60 days but test results today show I'm not ovulating. I've been taking the met but haven't combined it with the low carbing and my exercise routine has been very hit and miss.

Doc wants to start us on clomid but we've pretty much decided to give it three months doing exactly what I did before to get pregnant and see what happens. If I'm not ovulating within three months we'll go for the clomid.

I really hope something happens for you soon. It's frustrating...

Paddy

Yeah sorry to sound patronising but I second what Paddy said. When I started on the met I actually gained a stone and AF didnt show just because I was eating crap. When I finally knuckled down and started with the eating properly that was when my AF returned.
I dread to think what it will be like once I ve had this baby though I swear I have gained so much weight now and trust me it is NOT all baby!!

I hear what you are both saying and I do agree, since January I have been eating a lot better than I was. I’ve really cut out all the bad fast food and crisps as well as all those sugary drinks, mainly because I am a type 2 diabetic so it’s been better in controlling that.

I am not totally good, and I do still eat chocolate… I know I shouldn’t. I would say my diet is at the best it has been for a long time, not perfect and I could try a lot harder…

Exercise, well I was swimming 3 times a week and going to the gym but I stopped going because I suddenly found out someone was a member I didn’t like at all (that’s a long story, but it was enough to stop me going) I do exercise twice a day by walking the dog for at least 30 minutes at a time. I’ve also started to take an hour lunch break at work and I’ll walk around town just to get out of the office for some air. Although I have been off work for 4 weeks and am not back till April.

I’ve lost around 14lbs since January and it has stayed off, but has slowed of recent weeks although I have not got weighed for several weeks.

I am gonna try and do things better as I think there is always room for improvement!

Hi Alison

It sounds like you've got the exercise down to a tee... You are doing lots! I wonder would it be worth wearing some weights to make it a bit more challenging and will help build up muscle mass which in turn helps burn fat.

I wish I could get back into exercise. I'm not a gym member anymore and with Dara I don't have as much free time as I used to. So I'm hoping to convince a friend of mine to go walking with me a couple of evenings a week and DH, Dara and I usually go for long walks during the weekend anyway. I'll add in extra exercise by taking the longer route home and stuff.

As far as the diet goes, my changes were quite radical really. No white bread and limited brown bread, no white pasta or rice. Lots and lots of veggies, fruit and protein. As little processed food as possible. No junk (sweets and crisps etc). I'm a chocolate lover too but for the first month I had absolutely none in an attempt to kick start my metabolism. Then I limited it to two squares of Green & Blacks with a decaf coffee in the evening.

What about a diet and exercise thread on the UK board????

I hope that helps....I know how frustrating it is.

Paddy

Sounds a good idea to have a diet and exercise topic....

I only drink decaff coffee and tea now have done for a few month, even when I get my latte in town I have skinny milk and decaff!

I don't buy sugar, in fact I stopped buying it ages ago as I got use to not using it, but I guess all the hidden sugar in that prepacked food is not good.

I do like my veggies and stuff, I'll pretty much each anything fruit and veg wise...

I would it if anyone could share any recipies for some low carb meals....

Can I still have my Italian on Saturday night this week, am going to London for the weekend Friday to Monday.... am not drinking there, and will be good eating except for the Saturday night... unless something healthy on the menu!

Well I kept to being really good for some time and I exercised and I also dropped some pounds and still AF has not shown up, 361 days now - I am buying a cake next week to celebrate getting to it's 1st birthday

Anyway I only dragged this topic up to say I might not be around for a while posting and such like (although this UK board it rather quiet right now) as I need some time out.

Sometimes you just know when it's time to give up and take a long break....

Lots of luck to all of those expecting, or TTC you'll always be in my thoughts!
