Toronto. Mother's Day (Sunday, May 10) at 10 a.m.
Infertility patients, family, friends, and supporters are marching from
Nathan Phillips Square to
Queen's Park. Imagine a sea of people pushing empty prams...
Why? We want provincial funding for IVF, and we're going to make ourselves heard.
Bring a pram/stroller (or not), signs (or not), and march with us!
Canada is one of the few developed countries that generally does not offer IVF assistance (unlike countries such as Israel and England).
It doesn't seem to matter that taxpayers would actually SAVE money in the long run by funding IVF (due to savings from preemie care and HOM care).
It doesn't matter to the government that we have valid medical issues that should be treated the same as those of others.
It doesn't matter to the government that we can't have children (yet we keep having to pay school taxes for other people's children!).
Let's voice our feelings about this!
