Ok so I know I am jumping the gun but has anyone ever had to evacuate with meds such as Gonal-F? If so, did you just put it in a cooler? Also, if you were mid cycle, what did you do? I am sure my doctor has instructions as to what to do in such a situation but I would love to hear others' stories.
With all these storms suddenly popping up in the Atlantic, I am freaking out about having to evacuate with my meds and being midcycle. Ack!
That would be a totally new experience for me (especially since I live in Indiana LOL) but I would think a cooler would work, with a lot of those ice packs maybe?
Sorry wish I could help more. Stay safe. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Even the Gonal-F pen? It came refrigerated and we've been keeping it in the fridge because our house gets warmer during the day than the recommended storage temps.
I only have used the Gonal F pen. I talked with the pharmacy about this because I had to have it shipped and had a two hour drive. I am sure that if you keep it in a cool dry place...like a cabinet or something it would be fine. I wouldn't worry too much about it if have to evacuate.

Okay, Mtg, I hope I don't confuse you. I was looking at the storage information I got from the company I order from, IVPCare.
The say for Gonal-F "Medications should be stored at a controlled room temperature below 86 degrees then refrigerate after mixing."
I think it really depends on the type of Gonal-F though because this is for the Gonal-F multi dose vial, but the Gonal-F RF 75 IU vial just says to store at 77 degrees or below??? and if it is the Gonal-F pen to store between 36-46 degrees.
I also checked out a website for diabetics and how to store meds in an evacuation. They suggest to go ahead and place ice packs in the freezer now, store your meds in a plastic bag, and when you have to evacuate place ur meds in a cooler with the ice packs and the meds in the plastic bag.
I hope this helps! I can't tell you what to do in regards to being right in the middle of ur cycle. I guess it will be a memory (LOL) BD'ing while the storms are rolling in? To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I would definately ask your Dr what they do during these situations. It does look like right now none are going in to the gulf but I can totally understand your worry!

I was pretty sure that the Gonal-F had to stay refridgerated.
I have travelled while on injectibles. If you have a good cooler you should be fine. What I did with mine was line the cooler with the frozen packs that they shipped in. If you didn't save them the hard plastic blocks would probably be the next best thing. You want to have something that can stay cold for a long time depending on where you end up. Once they start to defrost you could probably fill some zip lock baggies with ice. Probably a good idea to keep the Gonal in a zip lock bag too.
I travelled this cycle with my Gonal and got my BFP so the slight temp change didn't effect it too much. I just would be careful not to let it get hot.
Hope this helps. Good luck and I hope this isn't necessary but better to be prepared and not need it than be caught off guard.
TC!
