Default Gum Infections from medication? maybe?

i went to the dentist today and discovered that i have developed a gum infection that is very painful. the hygenist asked about my medications and as a result, we got to talking about PCOS. she was very interested because she said she knows a young 17 year old girl with it. anyway...

after she started examining my teeth, she mentioned that my gums were quite inflamed and were bleeding and infected, and that this could be due to the fact that my hormones are all screwed up. i'm wondering, though, if it could have anything to do with my medications. i'm hoping so, because otherwise, the next best culprit is the development of diabetes and i'm not going to go there yet.

unfortunately, though, i'm beginning to show some of the other warning signs. i have lost a lot of weight lately (30-40 lbs. in 6 months) and i itch like mad. i've also got bruises on my legs from ink pens in my pockets and those bruises seem to stick around a while.

so basically, can anyone shed some light on this? am i just being paranoid? i have an appointment with a new endo on 11/4, so should i just be patient until then? thanks in advance for any suggestions.

As a former Dental Assistant, the one thing they taught me was that hormonal flucutations can cause problems with gums, especially in women. Now I am not saying this is what's happening with you, but it might be. I would let you endo know when you visit them. Until then, keep brushing - very gently thou and flossing.
