Default Gyn taken me off Met . . feel overwhelmed

I saw my Gyno today after being on Met for 6 weeks in which I was constantly ill, bad diahorrea every day, no appetite, constant nausea, headaches, dizziness, the whole shebang. So he decided it's best to go off it as it's just not for me.

He said there's nothing else for Insulin Resistance (mine is really bad ) except exercise and low gi diet. I've been following a low GI diet for about a month anyway.

Has anyone else had this happen? What did you do?

Oh and by the way I did try the XR version as well and that also made me sick.

What dose were you on and how did you get up to that dose? Were you taking brand or generic?

Ask your doctor about taking cinnamon. It's all natural and supposed to work like Met without the side-effects. I read where even 500mg of cinnamon was effective.

I was on the xr version first of all for 2 weeks as prescribed by my GP, and then the gyno put me on the "normal" or stronger version (because my IR is so bad and he wanted to "hit it hard") 425mg once a day then after 2 weeks on that I was told to double to 850mg which I did for a week, rang the gyno and told them I was so sick I couldn't move so they told me to go back down to 425mg, which I did for 2 weeks, until I saw the gyno on Monday, when he told me to stop taking it altogether because I was so ill with it (I felt MUCH worse than I did to begin with!!)

So I'm exploring Cinnamon now and working with my nutritionist, so we shall how we go. By the way I've only been off the Met for 24 hours and I already feel MUCH better!!

I guess it just doesn't suit everyone.

One thing is true about all meds, some people just cant take them. I did have some problems when I first started. I really think that the cinnamon is a good idea. I took it with my met and it made me DROp the weight.

There are cysters who take other diabetic drugs for insulin resistance, but I've read that they are more likely to make you gain weight.
