Default Had our Homestudy done yesterday

We had our homestudy done yesterday. I was so nervous about it, we live in a older home and we're remodeling and everything and I was so freaking out. But it wasn't so bad after all. I feel so much better now. Destiny (our adopted baby) slept the whole time the lady was here and that was a good thing. The lady was nice, but I couldn't believe some of the questions they ask you. They even asked my weight. I thought now what does that have to do with how I will provide for my little girl. silly stuff now. But she just asked all our background questions and got all our information about our parents, our up bringing, how we met, how we both felt about adoption, if we were going to tell her she was adopted and when etc. Then she walked thru my home. She didn't look in any closets, cabinets or anything, she asked us if we had any guns an if the ammo was in a separate place than the guns, she asked about our cleaning supplies and things like that and I explained that we would be changing all of that around once we got our new kitchen done. See we've built a new kitchen and my father is making the cabinets and I still have no counter top or anything. The old kitchen will be a laundry room and big walk in closet. Soooooo it didn't go that bad. I think we all over react when it comes to that time. It's a scary thing, but I say all they are looking for is to make sure that the child has a safe environment to live in and that you don't have rotten food and unsafe things laying around your house. But that part is over now.. Pheeeeew :o
Hope you all are having a great day.
Destiny is growing like a weed, it's amazing how fast they grow....I'm so thankful that God blessed us with her.....
Take care and thanks for listening......

I remember that feeling. Our social worker who did our homestudy was really nice. We already had to do our autobiographies and fill out personal and financial forms before her first visit, so most of her questions were about us, our lifestyle and our personalities, our feelings about each other. I was concerned when she measured the fence around our pool as it was 1/2 inch lower than required. She said it was fine - not to worry. Then the question about the gun - I have a pellet rifle from when I was a kid - instead of worrying about where to lock it - I gave it away to a friend with no kids. She didn't even tour our house. She only sat in our kitchen at our island. She said she could tell we had a nice home and wasn't interested in looking around. No peeking in our cupboards

Sounds like you all did fine and have a safe home for your new child!
