Hi! Although I had lap RNY almost 5 years ago I can say that meat can sometimes be the most difficult thing to eat this early post op. I believe at 3w post op I was doing soft proteins like cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, string cheese, tuna salad, chicken salad. One trick to getting meat to go down well is to have it very moist. If you have to add sauces or gravies do so. Dry meat will swell as soon as it hits the moist enviornment of your pouch and could possibly get stuck which can account for some of the uncomfortable feelings you're experiencing.
As for the plateau it's fairly normal to do that as from time to time you're body will need time to readjust to start loosing again. Have you taken your measurements lately? Many times this early out you'll be loosing inches when you're not loosing pounds.
Getting involved with a local support group is (IMO) critical for success. Have you been to
www.obesityhelp.com ? You can post to your states message board and I'm sure there will be someone there to let you know of a support group near you. You can have all the support from family & friends but unless they've been down the road you're on they can't really understand what your going through, not only physically but emotionally & psychologically as well. It helps also to take photos monthly, preferably in the same clothing so that you can compare pictures & see the clothes getting bigger and bigger. Doing that really helped me to see the weight loss because I couldn't see it if I just looked into the mirror. It takes quite a while for the brain to catch up with the body.
As for exercise, I've never been a big one on it and frankly I hate it. But all I did at that point post op was walk. I did little laps around the block gradually going further and further. At 6 weeks post op you should be cleared for all activity, until then you really want to keep your lifting (of anything) under 10lbs because you don't want to risk getting a hernia through one of your internal incisions. Just do what you feel comfortable doing without over exerting yourself.
Lastly once you have 25 posts you can start post to the buddy forms here on the site. On the Diet & Exercise Buddies forum there's a group called WLS Divas which is a buddy group/support group for cysters who've had some form of WLS. If you like you're more than welcome to post there once you hit the 25 post minimum required to post to the buddy forums.
Congrats on your surgery, I know it was a hard decision to make (at least it was for me, but a decision I don't regret one minute!). If you have more questions...please ask and I'll do my best to answer them for you. Hopefully some other RNYers will post to you as well!
