Default Had scar revisions done last week.

I wanted to share my experience for anyone who is interested. I went to a plastic surgeon for acne scars on chin. I get the monthly cystic acne and some have left scarring. I am very fair skinned and I heal well and my husband said i didn't have any problem but I did have a few scars that made me self conscience. Two of them were from a hair that got caught in the skin and I think the follicle was infected rather than an acne cyst. I had two places done on the left side of the chin, one in the center and one on the right side of the chin. A total of 5 revisions. The procedure took about 1 hour. They used a local to numb the area. It felt kind of weird when they stitched up the spots and I had some pain but it was all very bearable. No worse than having the derm. drain a cyst. I was told at consultation that any hair follicle and oil gland would be removed when they work on the areas. Yippee.. I was very swollen till the stitches came out in 4 days. I had black stitches and i felt like frankenstein and my husband said " boy they really worked on you" so I didn't look at it up close for 3 days. I felt cut, swollen and itchy. I could not wear makeup till today, the 5th day after the procedure. Immediately after they removed the stitches i felt better. No more itching. By the end of the day yesterday I could feel the skin settling down and no so puffy. Today I came to work and have makeup on. My husb. said he couldn't see anything today. I will examine it again tonight but I can tell you I already have gained a lot in self confidence. I will have scars from this procedure but they will be line scars and not a hole in my chin. I can live with that. I have spent years hoping that nobody noticed the holes in my chin that are visible in daylight . That feeling of needing to hide is gone. Also I can look in the mirror at myself now ( im talking from a distance, like when you look in the mirror in the morning while getting dressed.) and not freak out at the prospect of those holes in my chin. I am taking antibiotics now and so far so good, no seconday break outs or anything. I paid 750.00 for this procedure. No sun exposure till 6-8 weeks go by and I will resume microdermabrasion and laser hair removal in about a month. I have some superficial scars that the micro will help with. Would I do it again?? Yes... for the confidence booster that I am getting, yes i would.

Question

Was this terribly expensive? I am considering taking my niece who was in an accident and has a scar. She is in middle school and I fear her esteem could use it. Thank you.

I paid 750.00 . It was for 5 scars that I had. Get references for the name of a good plastic surgeon. It is worth it by far. Doing this will help with the self esteem issue, especially a young person. For anyone else reading...... last night i viewed the scars up close and they look great. I am extremely happy with the result. On the right side I cant even see it and the left was worse but that scar looks pretty good. The one in front is still red and is more visible. I hope this one fades with time and / or the microdermabrasion will take care of it.
