Red face Had for years, now having problems

Hi, everyone. Two monthes ago doc said pap had some cells to check, took biopsies, ultrasound and no cancer, just knew I had cancer made myself sick over the thick lining issue. The waiting was horrible, anyway, no cancer. Praise God!

My question is never had problem conceiving, always been irregular since 11 years old. Last 4 years get a period every month, weird. Also, started getting anxiety and panic around same time. A year ago an ultrasound showed thick lining right after period. That doc blew it off. One year later I am taking Provera to get rid of lining. So..... my question finally to you all is if periods are now every month, and heavy and clotty, why is this lining not sloughing every month. Why is the Provera now going to cause the period next week to be any different than last months regarding the lining? Anyone with this experience and answer please let me know. I guess with the cancer scare I really never thought of it before. From what I have read the missed periods cause the thickening, if I am not missing than what am I shedding every month? See my point? Very confusing.

Any help appreciated.
God Bless,
Karen
