Question Hair on face

Ive tried almost everything, nair cream, hot wax and nothing works. It barley takes off the hair. And I dont know what else to use. I dont want to shave it because it will grow back in a day or so. I need something that will take it off for a while.

The hot wax should work, but the catch is that you have to let the hair grow out long enough-which stinks. I would never use nair on my face, dang you're brave! If it isn't super thick, try tweezers. If you have a lot of problems, I recommend that you look into laser treatment-its expensive at first, but it's permanent. THink about the cost of the stuff you will use for over the counter stuff for a lifetime and it's more than the laser. I feel your pain, girl!

Well ive been wanting to go on pills for it but my gyn wont let me and she told me that I shouldnt have laser done no matter what. my hair is long enough for the wax but it just didnt work it was too hard to pull off when i put it on thick. and it just burned alot after a while on my skin. Whats so bad about nair? I used the face stuff so I knew it would be good. But the only problem with that was I ended up having an alergic reaction to the nair.

Many ways of dealing with facial hair will work, at least for a time, for women with light hair growth, hormones in the normal female range, and tough skin. As you've discovered, coarse, male-type growth is very often far too tough for removal methods which work for other types. If your hormones aren't in the normal female range and aren't kept there, then shaving is probably the best answer -- but you should make life as pleasant for yourself as possible. Get a men's-type Norelco/Philips rechargeable razor which at least avoids blades, shaving cream etc.

Ugggh...guess I am fortunate that the wax works for me. I tweeze in between waxings. The nair is some strong chemicals. Maybe I am just biased. Had a really bad experience on my legs with it one time-every hair came out and and I had a sore on EVERY spot where there hairs were. Now I am leary of it.

I found something new a couple of months ago I just love. It is called threading. It is really popular with Indian women in my city. They are very skilled and use thread that is held between their teeth and fingers to remove hair from the root. It is just amazing and doesn't hurt much if you have a good person doing it. The redness is very short lived. I highly recommend that people give it a try. Another plus is that Indian women tend to have a lot of facial hair all over, so there is no embarrassment when you ask them to do your whole face

Threading works great for me too! It's easy to learn too so you can do it at home in a pinch!

In some ways I think it's probably more difficult shaving every second day than it is shaving every day when it just becomes so much a part of life it's just like brushing one's teeth. But then I had to shift to shaving every day when I was fifteen and that's a very long time ago :-(

Oh, I love threading. Sadly I no longer live in California and haven't found a salon in El Paso that does it. I really works and last much longer than shaving or tweezing.

Nair doesn't work for me, my hair is very, very course and dark. It holds onto my face for dear life. It takes some strong tweezers to pull those babies out. Because the hairs on my face are at different growth rates I remove by shaving and tweezing. I do it daily, sometime I tweeze in the AM & PM.

Years ago I started laser removal, I had two treaments. I like the results when I was going, because I didn't finish the recommended treatments the follicles were not damaged enough and still grow. Yuck!

Tina, sweetie. Why won't your gyno let you go on the pills? As soon as I talked to my new gyno about going on Spiro, she promptly pulled out her pad and wrote me a prescription for 100 mg daily. And I'm also confused as to why she told you not to have laser done. Both methods are quite effective. I've been suffering the effects of a beard as thick as my dh for years now. And all other doctors told me that there was no treatment for it. Since finding soulcysters, a new family DR and a new gyno, I've learned so many things. My suggestion, get a second opinion from a new gyno. Good luck with everything.

I do the same thing and it took me three years to even tell my husband what I was doing. I would sneak his electric razor, which I prefer Now I just use his Gillete and it works better than tweezing or waxing.

I think what a lot of people might find helpful is to know how he reacted when you did tell him you were using his razor. Fear of a negative reaction from SOs is one of the things that deters a lot of women from shaving their face.
