I have been having symptoms of PCOS for a little over a year yet my hair onlys started falling out alot at the end of fall. Also I notice when my hair falls out they have a small white tuft or bulb at the end of the follicle meaning that it is in the telogon phase (when its in the resting phase and is supposed to fall out and a new hair is growing underneath). BUT only 10-15% of your hair is supposedly in the telegon phase at one time, I could swear I have lost about 30-40% of my hair since fall. It has decreased a bit with Nioxin and supplements but its still falling out noticeably..again I look to see if its a white tuft when I see them coming out, and if they arent broken off hair they have these tufts. Does anyone know is PCOS causes hair to suddenly convert to the telogen phase and fall out? I just dont want to be worried and stressed (making the shedding worse!) if this is just normal shedding..
My hair sheds go up and down in months I too suffering a bad one now but I have male p[attern hair loss so its bad all the time .. its also not growing back in ..
THe hairs i lose ALL have the white bulb as you describe ... I lose maybe 200-300 MIN hairs a day

well I take iron every day, along with all the other essentials for hair. I had all my lab work done and my estrogen was very very low so I am hoping that is why, my testosterone was normal too. I am hoping once my estrogen goes up some it will cease a bit..if not I guess I will make an appointment with the Dermo.
