Default Hair Growth-Pregnancy-What do you do????

I have been having hair growth on my chin, cheeks, and jaw/neck for years. I was able to wax it, but then it just hurt too much. I have been using a dipilator (sp?) that I got at Wal-Mart, but it doesn't get very close. It works for the moment, but I always have to use it again at the end of the work day.

This is such an embarrassing problem. I'm pregnant, so I can't do many things. I'm wondering if I should just shave. I'm concerned shaving will make it worse...make more hairs and/or get even darker. I know it will make it closer.

What do you do/suggest?

Shave it. While waxing can often increase growth of hormonally-stimulated hair, shaving merely cuts dead hair that has already grown. Shaving neither makes it coarser or darker -- ask any dermatologist. The truncated hair end, of course, is blunt when it regrows. I'm an enthusiast for using a Norelco from the men's range of electric razors, but be warned that if you use a men's-type electric razor you must have the hair very, very short before you do so -- they can't handle long hair at all. The men's Norelcos have an odd cutting action that ensures the cut end lies just below the skin surface, so they can give a particularly smooth result. The only real difficulty with shaving is the psychological one of feeling an "unfeminine" thing to do -- what better time to try it than at a time when no-one can question your femininity as you're pregnant?
