Default Hair loss

I keep losing my hair! Every day, more and more comes out and I can feel that it is thin all over...

How have you kept your hair from doing this?

I am currently breastfeeding and am not on any meds for my PCOS...

Can anyone help me?

TIA!

Hi, alot of us are suffering from hairloss....It is very depressing and stressful. In the past 2 years I have lost 1/2 of my hair. I have found that a change in my diet and losing weight has slowed my hairloss, I started on Yasmin BCP about 2 weeks ago and I am hoping that it will help me with my hairloss. I tried taking Spironolactone but it made be so sick I had to stop. Since you just had a baby, your hairloss my be due to that.....have you asked your doctor about it?

Keep posting, I know there are others here that can give more info and advice....

Hang in there, you are not alone.

I agree being a PCOS'er forced to go into cosmetic hair replacement I suggest that your initial loss is from having a baby .. I have a twin sister who is also PCOS she had a baby and lost all her temple hair about three - six months after hte birth of her child (this is VERY common in women who dont have PCOS as well - its called Post Partum shed and is when your hormones are going back to normal) ....

If it DOES continue then I suggest you visit a dermatologist OR an edocrinolgist ... personally if its from PCOS I would do it sooner than later I currently have bald temples, recession and thinning all over .... my hair loss has RUINED my life

It started doing this before my daughter was born--I first noticed it about 6 years ago...before I was officially diagnosed (I knew I had PCOS--just couldn't find someone to actually tell me that!)...and I lost about 1/3 of my hair then--in a very short amount of time. My hair continued to fall out even while I was pregnant...and has gotten worse since she was born.

My hair was thin before I had DD, but afterwards, it got even thinner -and it has not grown back. I don't have any suggestions, but if you find something that works, please let us know!

Default hairloss PP

Hi girls,

As you should know most women do lose a good bit of hair postpartum. It was discussed in another thread. I think on the mommy board asking when hair fell out. Most of the girls responded that between 4 and 6 months was when they started to notice more hair loss than usual. I am three months and so far haven't really noticed anything more than before and during pregnancy. some said hair came back, some said they continued to struggle with thin hair. I use rogaine in the front (bang area). I am not yet back on aldactone because i'm still expressing milk too. One girl had a thread about a certain shampoo that was a lifesaver. Search the boards and you should come across it. Look under the mommy board and the hair in the wrong places/hair loss board to see what you can find. Good luck to you. I am keeping my fingers crossed i don't lose much more (actually im hoping i lose none, but i want to be realistic).

From my experiences if you notice hair thinning get to a sympathetic doctor QUICK (most just poo poo it) try and find an endo or dermatologist .. and make them take bloods etc ...

I ignroed my hair thinning for ten years I know am covered in hair extensions and my stylist has told me that I WILL be in a wig in the future ...

Get it checked out sooner I wish I had

Question hmmm?

I wonder if its a coincidence, but since i last posted, saying my postpartum shed hasn't started, i have washed my hair twice, pulling handfuls of hair out of comb afterwards.

I am going to go back on aldactone and will continue using rogaine, as that was the only thing that helped to stop the hair falling out. I'm also going to ask the doctor to check my testosterone levels as this hasn't been done for a good while.
On another thread about hair loss, the ladies were recommending nioxin shampoo and another one from a product line called Lush. Im using pantene full and thick, but everyone keeps telling me its not good because the ingredients are too heavy and artificial for fragile thinning hair. i hadn't noticed a difference myself and this is being used two to three times a week for several months now.
