From the research I've done, it appears that a women doesn't usually become completely bald like a man, but eventually the hair thins out so much that the loss of hair can become noticeble to others to the point where you can see down right to the scalp in many areas. What I read said that 1/4 to 1/2 of the hair is usually lost by the time other people begin to really notice.
It's normal to lose 50 to 100 hairs of day, however month by month the numbers of hairs I'm losing is increasing. One morning, I literally counted each strand of hair that was lost in the shower, in the pick, and what was in my hand when I ran by hand down the back of my hair. I counted over 40 hairs. That doesn't include the constant shedding of hair during the day. Every time I run my hand through my hair I have anywhere from 2 to 5 hairs. I'm constantly picking stands of hair off my shoulders and the backrest of my chair at work. It's really depressing. I'm going to address that at my doctor's appt on Nov. 27 and see what medications I can get on now (like spiro) to help prevent some of the loss.
