Hi all! I'm new to this site, but SO happy I found it!
I have LB in Feb this year... I've always had thin hair, but recently felt it was thinner than usual (don't know if I'm just paying closer attention than normal). I'm normally pretty good about protein, but I'm worried this this hair loss is related to not getting enough... is there a way to tell if it's PCOS or LapBand? It's hard to have so many issues that you're not sure where the symptom is coming from! LOL.
Thanks!

i agree with laura. She's right on... Have you talked to your surgeon/fill place about the hair loss? They maybe able to order some blood work to help figure it out.
Thank you for being a success story.

I experienced Hair loss with the band/PCOS too... I know it's common for both.
Have you had your blood tested? Sometimes it's just due to the drastic shift in vitamins/hormones etc... it usually happens about 4 or 5 months post op...
if you're far beyond that w/ your band it is likely the PCOS...
I feel your pain though - I never know what is causing what!!

Hair loss is also in part to our bodies reaction to substantial weight loss. I remember my hair thinned out quite a bit at about 3 months post op and lasted for 3-4 months and then slowly started coming back in. Now my hair is just as it was pre op (aside from the loss of my curls...but that's pregnancy related). Try adding in a Biotin supplement daily. Good luck and congrats on your weight loss!

I can say that after my RNY Gastric bypass I was getting in at least 70g of protein each day, taking my vitamins, and getting in my water and I still had a dramatic amount of hair loss. I had hair down to my waist that thinned so much I cut it to my shoulders. I've talked to people who said it was a protein thing - but several were lik eme and were definitely getting in enough protein and still lost a lot of hair. I think it's just a thing that some bodies go through after so many dramatic changes going on.
