Default Hair loss bigtime, questions

Well, I saw it finally. Saw that I am losing hair so badly that you can see my scalp on the top of my head (you know where men generally lose their hair?). I wanted to cry.

Short of using Rogaine (which I DO NOT want to) and drugs, what can be done to stimulate growth and stop hair loss?? What about herbal remedies??

Also, do you think having bangs added would help to not emphasize the loss as bad??

Thanks.

I can understand how you feel. For me, apart from losing hair from the crown, I also shed a lot at the temples. Unlike u, i rely on minoxidil 5% to keep it under control.

Rite now, I intend to use Riquette Hofstein's natural formulas and ween myself off minoxidil gradually.. im not sure how effective her remedies are but its worth a shot.

I come to realise thou, that exercising really helps a lot. Not directly but it made my AF come more regularly. So long as AF keeps coming, I noe the shedding will eventually stop.. at least thats the hope that keeps me going everyday.

Do you exercise?

I think it would be a good idea for you to run some tests (if you haven't already...) to see if you can find the cause. For me, going on thyroid meds helped with my hair loss and depression.

My doctor uses specific testing to determine what herbal remedies or supplements to use....some that I have taken are EFAs, biotin, and zinc.

Thank you both very much. I asked my doctor last week and she said that with PCOS this was very normal...but she may try putting me back on Aldactone to see if it'll help. I don't know. Last time it didn't work. We'll see.

Yes, I exercise regularly (5x/week at a gym) and have been trying to follow a low-carb/high-protein diet for the past year or so. Been losing weight- AND hair. Argh.

Thanks again.
