Default ...HAIR LOSS HELP?? (New to the forum and to PCOS)

Hello!

I am so glad to have found this site, although I must admit I am discouraged by alot of what I read.

I was recently diagnosed, and have been out on five days of provera, to be followed by yasmin (oral contraceptive) to regulate cycles, etc.

However, I am concerned that Yasmin will not do much for my rapidly-thinning hair. My endo doesn't seem very concerned and has essentially ignored my requests to deal more urgently with the hiar problem.

Any advice for this PCOS newbie?

Thanks,

A

Boots-I had the same issue with my doctor yesterday. She kind of said, there's not much you can do about it. End of story. Really made me discouraged, but I'm starting to read lots of posts about different shampoos and the such. I think I'm going to try those. My docs biggest suggestion is to lose weight and then hopefully the hormones will even out and hair will stop thinning. Gee though, if it was that easy, I wouldn't be having all these problems in the first place.

I'm not currently on BCP but going to start Met next week.

Good luck finding info. Let me know if you find any good posts.

Sue

I have also suffered from hair loss but that has stopped since my TSH level is stabilised. Sorry I can';t be of much help. Perhaps once your hormonal levels are more stabilised that will help your hair!
Hang in there!
