Default hair loss.Need some help!

HI all! I have PCOS since an early age and i am on pills and i also read about this syndrome but i still can't find answers to all my questions and i hope you can help me. How big is the danger to loose all the hair? Baldness is very spread among the women with PCOS? The treatment with Spirolactone or other drugs prescribed for PCOS can reduce the loss of the hair? Following the tretment for PCOS the hair can be regenerated? I read somewhere an article in wich it was written that baldness at women is a reversible procces. Is it true?
when you say "hair loss" you refer to what cantity of hair? Is it normal to loose 100 sometimes 150 per day? I envy models that have long beautiful hair...Are there any chances to have such hair considering i have PCOS? I would really apreciate if you could help me.Thank you!

I personally have seen regrowth on saw palmetto.

Dr. Redmond has had success with regrowth using Aldactone in his book

Good News About Women's Hormones

and on his website

hi Maureen
i hope i can get your opinion on something. i went out and bought some saw palmetto GNC standardized and was trying to take 2 a day. i could almost swear my face got much oilier than it usually is within the first few days of taking it. im alreay having acne and oily skin problems so i quit taking it. ive since tried again for a few days with the same results. did you get anything similar to that happening when you first started and if so, did it go away and things got better with time? i see so many good things about SP i want to try it, but am afraid its going to make things worse with my oily skin and acne...and I was hoping it would help with that and the hair loss. any thoughts?

Hi, Basically there are three types of hairloss in women and all are treatable. The best course of action is to see a dermatologist and they can do the necessary tests to diagnose which type you have. There are several treatment options available for hairloss including over the counter, prescription and herbal. Here is a link for a website that has an indepth description of each type of hair loss and the recomended treatments.

http://www.hairlosstalk.com/research/women/index.htm

I hope this is helpful to you all. I've done alot of research on hirsutism and hair loss, my biggest problem with PCOS, so if you have any questions please ask.

I dont think I noticed an increase in oilness.
Where are you in your cycle, you say you are irregular but is it possible that you are expecting AF? (i always get oilier before the arrival)

have you been tested for adrenal gland hormones? I wonder if there are those with this problem that the SP doesn't help.

I do know that herbs take much longer than 2 days, which is not to say you couldnt be having this effect from it, but I always remember this caveat when it comes to natural solutions and when to expect positive results.

Let us know what you decide ok?

hi Maureen
i decided to give it a try yet again i am starting out a lot slower with it this time though, taking just one a day to get my system used to it and then will increase the dosage. i believe i was tested for adrenal problems tho i cant recall what tests those are...do you know which tests they would be? i can look in my files and make sure. my reproductive endo seems positive i have pcos. i should have had AF last week and it hasnt come yet. kinda suprised at that i have to say. i was taking Vitex till about a week and a half ago and stopped that and am wondering if i screwed something up now. my periods were irregular but were coming every 21 days, go for 7 days then stop and then start up for another 2 days (used to be every 28 days- 5 day max which was normal for me.) now im going on 30 days with no AF and there isnt a chance i am pregnant. i was about to start taking the bcp Apri (Ortho-Cept, Desogen) last sunday but am still waiting to be able to. my body gets more confusing all the time!
