Default Hair loss question????

Hello...just a quick question for those of you dealing with the hair loss issues.

At my appointment with my RE today, he suggested that I try Rogaine for the hair loss...he seemed to think this is one of the more effective treatments for PCOSers. I was wondering, has anyone tried this, and if so, did it work? What exactly did you use, and how much/how often? I would love to hear about anyone's experiences (positive or negative).

Thanks!

Default same here!!!

I had my hair cut on Thursday and was talking to the stylist about my thinning hair and I think I had her stumped. She finally asked me if I'd ever considered Rogaine for Women. I had, but wondered if it was a gimmick.

I was just now looking up info on it and it sounds like it works, just takes TIME!!! I'm not the most patient person.

Walmart has a generic version, 3 month supply, $18.84. So I think I will try it and take pics of me now and then "during" pics since there's not really and end when you do the Rogaine treatment.

I would love to hear from anyone else who's is trying it.............

****going to buy stock in Rogaine!!!!****

Hi ladies,

I just wanted to put my 2 cents in, i hope you don't mind. Several years ago I started losing my hair due to the PCOS, it was coming out by the handfuls. I went to a dermatologist and he gave me a vitamin to take (i think it was called Nicobid?) and also some shampoo to use. Sorry, I don't remember what the shampoo was called. Both of them stopped the hair loss, I haven't really gained alot of it back, but it is not falling out at alarming rates anymore!

Just another option to think about or maybe to do along with the rogaine.

Have a good day!

Dani

I went to a renowned dermatologist, who told me that Rogaine was my only option. I tried it briefly, and ended up with some peach fuzz growth, and an itchy scalp.

I ended up quitting it. It was a hassle to use it twice a day, and to have to have that stuff on my head. Yuck. Plus, I didn't want to have to use it forever. (or go off it when I want kids, only to have all my hair fall out!)

Anyways, I ended up finding a good doctor who changed around my meds a bit, and added cytomel (synthetic T3). Since then, my hair has started to grow back in. It's been about 8 months now. I'm so glad I didn't stay with the rogaine. I think it would've camoflagued my problem and I wouldn't have pursued a real solution for this. In addition to having my hair grow back, the cytomel also helped immensely with my depression.

Just a consideration...

Thank you for your input ladies! I think I might try to see a dermatologist...maybe get some different options.
