Question Hair loss in the shower....

After shampooing and conditioning I run my fingers thru my hair to get all the conditioner out. Right? Wrong! All I pull out is hair. Hand fulls of hair. I dont have bald spots or anything. My hair is extremely thick. But at this rate I'm scared in a couple of years I will be thinning. Severely.
Is this normal to lose this much? I stop up the tub everytime I shower. I have to clean the drain. Its horrible. Help!!!

This has happened to me for a long time. Can we say drano! I have to unclog my drains ALL the time. My hair is thick too. I think it's just normal but since we have such thick hair it doesnt all come out in the brush like most people, so we get it in the shower like that. Just my opinion. Hope that helps!

I have this problem also, my hair doesnt appear to look as though its balding but when I wash it an unbelievable amount comes out...
I think im trying to forget about it as i know that worrying never helps matters - in fact that alone can cause hair to fall out right? LOL!
I dont really think someone can judge "how much hair loss is alot" (despite the obvious of course) because every one of us is different...

It happens to me too, no bald spot yet. But it's happened forever, it's more noticeable with longer than short hair. What I do is brush my hair before I take a shower, then I shampoo, but when I condition I kind of put it in there and grab it like I'm making a pony tail and let my hands slide down it and pull out all the loose hair and put it on the ledge of the tub...I got tired of cleaning out the drain. I also comb my hair w/my fingers after the conditioner is in and grab all the lose hairs that way too.

This is the same for me. I have always had really thick hair, but lately, shoot, I should grab that stuff out of the drain and open a wig-making business! I really am pretty scared that this is the start of losing my hair. I have just about every other symptom of PCOS, can't I avoid just ONE??

Thinning hair happens in cycles, there will be a season of heavy fall followed by a season of lighter fall.If you have thick hair you simply have more hair to loose, and over time if it continues to thin the rate of loss does slow down.Sometimes it reverses itself and sometimes it continues and results in bald spots.Mostly female pattern hairloss occurs all over the scalp, and it takes a while to notice the hair is thinning, particually frustrating when trying to get help from others,as they cannot actively see the hair thinning until it becomes noticible.Pcos causes hormonal disruptions and DHT to be left on the scalp.Consider washing the hair with shampoos and conditioners such as NIOXIN,OR SAW PALMETO that get rid of the hormone on the scalp and may promote hair growth.

Thumbs down

I have the same problem. One day I collected all of the hair out of the tub and placed it in a ziploc baggie to show DH. I was crying my eyes out when I showed him....he simply said, "It's okay hun. My aunt Vera owns the salon and could get you a good deal on a wig!!!!!!!!!!" How rude.

I have 3 cousins with pcos and one of them has a lot of bald spots. She HAD extremely thick hair.

Me too. I used to have such thick hair. Everyone would comment on how pretty and thick it was. I have had the hair loss problem in the shower for a couple of years. It seems to be getting worse. My hair is so think now! I used to have to dig my fingers through my hair to feel my scalp, not anymore. I feel like there is practically no hair between my finger and scalp when i touch my head There seems to be nothing I can do about it. Can I try that Saw Palmeto while I am pg do you think it would help?

Fire- I know how you feel I was tellng my husband and asking about my hair loss and he basically said the same thing. They are trying to make us feel better, not knowing that isnt what we really want to hear lol I dont know about you but I was almost hoping he would lie and I could say it was my imagination. Of course he went with the honest route instead ... oh well. They try

I am with all of you on this one! I used to have (even 3 months ago) REALLY thick, curly hair -- and now it is noticeably thinner in the front (at my hairline) and on the sides. It just FEELS 50% thinner!
I thought it was TE from stopping the Pill 6 months ago, but I don't even lose more than 150 hairs a day (I don't think). I dread showering, and I dread combing it. I don't remember what life was like before I worried about MY HAIR! I am only 25
Has anyone had any success with Spiro or Yasmin? My Endo put me on Yasmin a month and a half ago ... no results yet

i cleaned my plughole out this morning, eeckh!
also my flatmate and i both have really long hair and hoovering our carpet is like hjoovering a whole persons head! we both seem to still have hair though, so i've come to the copnclusion that we have an endless supply! at least i hope so. i find it worse if i tie my hair back the day before washing it as all the hair that falls out that day is trapped

Mine just started to get real bad. No thinning yet. No bald spots. I just kind of freak out when by the time I get out of the shower its stopped up bc of all of the hair. Just 1 shower. Grrr. Kind of aggravating.

This happens to me all the time. I have long hair and I think it's just becuase you notice it more with longer hair. My boyfriend started to see his fall out too when his hair started to grow somewhat longer. I bought a drain strainer at wal-mart to catch the hair and after a couple of showers it looks like somebody killed a teddy bear in my shower!
