I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15, Im now 21. Ive been on 9 different medications I think it is now. With my main problem being hair growth.
Ive discussed it time and time again with my doctor and he has helped me to no end with different medications.
Im now currently on Finisteride and Metformin. Finisteride has thinned and slowed my hair growth but I have a slight problem.
Im looking into Laser hair removal since Im not satisfied with thinner hair as its still always there no matter what I do (Im sure you all know this feeling!) The worst problematic hair is on my face and breasts. Im coming to terms with hair removal on my face after trying many hair removal creams/waxes but Im totally baffled on what to do with the hair on my breasts?? Is it safe to use hair removal creams? I dont dare wax, I cant imagine the pain! Is it suitable to be treated through Laser Hair removal on my breasts?
I just wondered on you guy's opinions or if anyone else has the same problem?
i was diagnosed when i was fifteen too, and the daily hair removal process is excruciatingly monotonous and full of trial and error. however, if you are faithful to a daily routine you will have it under control for most of the time. for the chest hair here and there, i find that most effective product to be "Nair" Facial Hair Remover. it is gentler than the other formulas and it only needs to be done once a week or so. Wal Mart sells it and it is fairly inexpensive i find it also really important to exfoliate the area to be shaved, it helps pick up excess dirt, grime and dead skin cells that have accumulated since the last hair removal process (daily or not). this makes for less painful removal, less razor/wax bumps, and clearer skin all in all. my fave daily all-over exfoliant is Freemans "Totally Juicy" 2in1 facial cleanser in Limon. it is gentle enough to use everyday and it smells like summer! Wal Mart has this too and it is a good deal as well it is also really really really important to get a good moisturizer, something non-irritating, unscented, and as natural as possible. this is important because the area is very sensitive, especially if you have a ritual performed daily on it. another awesome buy is "herbacin" moisturizing cream, it contains camomile, calendula and aloe vera. it is great because it saturates your face in much needed moisture, and the plant extracts tone down redness and irritation from hair removal...and i don't think i need to tell you where to get it whatever you do, don't opt for laser hair removal...i was going to do that, only to find out that it would be a waste of money. it is not so bad if the hair is not caused from a chemical imbalance, the laser will easily take care of it. but if the hair problem is horomones, the hair will simply grow back after removal process. the laser can get rid of the hair, but the laser cant reach inside our bodies and kill the chemical imbalance that causes the growth in the first place anyways, sorry for taking so much time to explain, but thats how it is with us cysters! i hope this advice is helpful to you girl, God bless and good luck!

Thanks so much for all your help on the subject I really appreciate it!
I have used "Nair" before and found it to be the best ive tried also. Im always iffy about using products on my chest but "Nair" has proved to be the one that causes most irritation for me.
I understand what youre saying about "but if the hair problem is horomones, the hair will simply grow back after removal process. the laser can get rid of the hair, but the laser cant reach inside our bodies and kill the chemical imbalance that causes the growth in the first place" I never thought of that. My doctor suggested it but never discussed that side of it...thanks for sharing!
Im definately going to take up your idea of using exfoliators - this also makes sense as the hair growth us gals with PCOS get takes alot of time to remove with creams being on our faces etc so the build up in the pores/surface must be terrible. Thanks again for the insight!
hey there...first of all you are not alone, I have hair on my breasts as well. But I am confused now because everything that I have read (here on these boards) suggests that if you have your androgen levels at normal and get lazer hair removal than it will NOT grow back...did I read this wrong? I hope that someone clarify for me...

if your androgen levels are normal the hair will not grow back, because there is not enough testosterone in you body to keep pumping out new hairs constantly. but, if you have a very high testosterone level, the laser will remove all the visible hair, yes, but the laser cannot tell the testosterone in your body to stop hair growth. hence, hair will continue to grow back. what all us high testosterone cysters need is something to get inside our body and snip all those testosterone levels down to size! if you are not trying to concieve, i found the best combo to battle hair growth is the combonation of "Spirolactone" and "Diane" or "Tri-Cyclen" birth control pills. it takes about a month or so, but the results are fairly good. the only real side effect i found with taking Spirolactone was an upset stomach, probably because the pills are so big and they taste like unsweetened mint chalk. but, nothing a couple of soda crackers or arrowroot cookies couln't fix! God bless and good luck!

Thanks so much for that Prairie! It makes alot of sense!
I think I'll ask my doctor about Spirolactone. Is it anything like Metformin at all? It sounds kind of similar..Im taking Metformin and Finisteride, which I havent heard much of a mention on these boards (from what ive read so far anyway...)
