Default The hair we loose from PCOS is it permanent?

Once I get my hormones in check and my IR on the right track does the hair loss come back or is it permanently gone? How many have you got your hair back and how many of you havent. Thanks

Hey there! When I started bcp, spiro and minoxidil some of my hair did come back, but not all. I had such thick hair before and the hair that grew back was enough to cover --meaning I didn't need to use toppik---, but not thick like before. I was so thankful for the hair that came back! I actually would feel kinda normal around people again and didn't have to worry about people looking at my balding head instead of my face. I have heard that the sooner you treat your hairloss then more of your hair will come back. If you wait a while like I did only the follicles that are still alive will grow hair. The others shrink and die. I hope this helps you a little. I understand the pain that hairloss brings. Hang in there sweetie. Now that I'm pregnant and can't take anything for hairloss mine is back. I always thought pregnancy holds your hair in.......not mine! So, the emotional rollercoaster is back. Ughh.....I hate hairloss. Anyway, I'm here for you.

Btw.....my hairloss is from high androgens "Androgenic Alopecia" and I was thinning for a good 2 years before getting treatment. The highest my testosterone was before pregnancy was 112. Now in pregnancy it's 189. So, yeah I make testosterone like a man....blah.

Default Women experiencing hair loss lose

Women experiencing hair loss lose ground fast in today's world. At work and in her personal life a woman's appearance has much to do with her financial and social success. Men may also prefer not to go bald. But since balding is known to be caused by high levels of testosterone, a bald man may be credited with extra virility.

It comes back for me, so I think it is just a temporary crazy hormone thing. Sometimes it falls out in handfuls and scares the heck out of me, but then a few months later grows back almost as thick as it used to be. I've been taking a high potency multivitamin and it has been working wonders for my hair loss. My hairdresser also recommended using a shower head filter because regular tap water can damage hair and cause even more hair loss. She also said to never ever use Pantene, which I was, so I switched to Dove and it helped a lot as well. Just a few tips that might help! Good luck

I've been on finasteride and metformin for two years and whilst I didn't get all my hair back, the hair that was there thickened up very nicely.

Apparently, once a hair follicle is completely turned off the hair won't come back, but if there is still a hair growing, even if it's too fine to see, it will come back to being a normal hair.

If you start a treatment to counteract testosterone, don't expect miracles, but you should be able to keep what hair you have and should see it get thicker and stonger.

I was at the comb it all over the shiny patch stage, and now I can part it or comb it pretty much any way I please without worrying about thin bits showing. So I'm happy with the results I got from finasteride. I did try spironolactone first, but it only slowed my hair loss.
