Has anyone been a patient of Dr. M. Karnis, or know anything about him/her? Also curious about the reputation of the clinic. I have a referral (don't know how long it will take until I get the first appointment - any ideas?), so I'm wondering what to expect. Any comments, advice, etc., are very much appreciated.

I wish I could help, but I was transferred to Dr. Karnis' (female) care after my own RE, Dr. Daya, was forced to step down for doing unapproved, outdated procedures on women. I never saw her because I got pregnant with Owen and had no interest in having my care based in Hamilton. After having Owen, I never went back.
They are thorough at the clinic, and there are students, or at least there were, who do things like the internal exams. That didn't impress me. I wasn't asked. I just got some young guy who didn't speak English well enough to even tell me what he was doing. Hopefully things are better there now.

I have been dealing with west-end and Drs.Karnis did my surgery. I really liked her she has a great bed side manner she is not my DR. My Dr is Dr.Huges he is nice but he calls it the way it is no sugar coating. I am very comfortable there and if I had the $$ I would definitly do another IVF round I really really like the nurses. Yes the PP is correct they do have students there because they are really a part McMaster University so it is a learning site however you can refuse to have a student do any work on you and they respect that IMHO. Your wait could be a little longer as they only have the 2 active Dr's right now because one has left the pratice and another one is one mat leave. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask but IMHO I do like them there and I never had any incounter's with DR Daya HTH
Thanks, ladies. I have no problem with students as long as they are well monitored (and as long as they're explaining what they're doing to me); I guess because I'm a teacher, so I'm used to that sort of thing. I like the fact that they're connected to a university, as well.
I hope the wait isn't too long. I just started af again today, and I've been ttc for over 5 years. I'm pushing 30, and I'm extremely anxious for something to happen already.

Hey One - I will be 30 this year so I wouldn't worry to much and Dh and I have been TTC since 2001 so just try to remain patient and know that you are going to a good clinic and it will work out. If you have any questions please feel free to PM even if you just want to chat. I hope the wait isn't too long for you either.
Thanks. It's just that I wanted to have 4 or 5 kids - I'm a teacher and an auntie, so I do realize how crazy that sounds - and I can't see that happening now.
And, as well, it's the same old story about everyone else in our family having their kids already (including some of our nieces and nephews).
I've even moved out of province partly to escape the baby boom. We are ethnic Mennonites, and in the area we're from, most everybody marries at 20 or 21 and has had their kids before they hit their late twenties.
I'm trying to escape the insanity. Focusing on my career certainly helps, but that doesn't staunch the flow of questions from family, friends, and acquaintances (because women concentrating this much on their careers is also perceived as odd, where we're from).
Take care! I'm glad to know that the clinic has a good reputation, so thanks!

Hey One - I understand about the pressures. I mean my parents were both United church minister's and they don't really believe in going to the length that we have gone too, in order to TTC our own but that is also because I am adopted myself but they still are being pretty supportive. I hope the best for you and really even if you just need to vent frustration PM me because I promise you will have moment of frustration. Take care
Hey One, I hope it's not too much longer but Ya know what you could do is call the clinic directly and make sure that they have recieved your referal I did and they gave me an estimate on how much longer it would be. Just a thought if you want the # let me know
Yeah, I've been thinking about calling them to find out. I've just tried to avoid that and not think about it because A) I'm afraid to hear how long it will take; and B) I'm sure they get a zillion calls already from anxious women. I know the referral went through because I checked with my gp. *Sigh* I'll give it until the end of the month, and then I think I'll call.
Thanks! (HUG)

One - The girls at the desk are normally very friendly so I wouldn't worry too much about them being bothered. They also know how long we wait to get in there. If you need the # at the end of the month let me know
Hey, I just got my first contact from the clinic. They sent me a fact sheet that I filled in and faxed back to them. I hope they phone me this week. I'm so ready to get this done.

Really I wish she was my DR over Dr.Hughs I like him but I am more prone to be relaxed with a female DRS YKWIM? Anyways atleast this is a step won't bbe much longer YAY !!!
