Hello everyone, I am new here. I was just diagnosed in April of this year and am still trying to figure things out. The past few years have been frustrating for me since I have been dealing with many health issues. My doctors could never figure out what was wrong with me, and then this year I changed my insurance and had to go to the clinic on my school's campus (since I am a college student and have student insurance). I see a nurse practitioner there and she suspected the first visit I saw her that I had pcos, and after about a month of having many tests done she confirmed it. I have most of the symptoms/problems that are associated w/ pcos: cysts, insulin resistant, unwanted hair growth ,hypertension, irregular periods (even with b.c), abnormal hormone levels, discolored skin patches, I'm overweight, and this year I started having extremely bad migraine attacks- which a neurologists I've been seeing believes is due to my pcos and out of whack hormone levels! So now I take about 15 pills a day to try to get everything working right and prevent many other things from happening. I am happy to find a place like this where there are other people who understand what I am going through. I'm not going to lie- it has been frustrating...and scary...and sometimes depressing! But I definitely just think positively about it, and hope that everything will work out. Did I mention I'm 23? This diagnosis has really changed my life, I'm graduating college in April, and the dx has made me change my plans for after graduation, and I will probably try to have kids much sooner to increase my chances (I'm going to be getting married next year!!!). Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself, and say that although I wish other people didn't have to deal with this, I'm really happy to find other people to talk to who can appreciate what I'm going through. ~ Erika
Welcome! We are so happy to have you here. I am so sorry that you have gone through so much. I used to get migranes and I know how horrible they can be. I am 22 almost 23 so I can kind of relate to you. They women on this site are wonderful and so supportive. It really is great to find people who know what you are going through.

I am so glad that you have found us. I know all too well what your experiencing, I've been there myself as have most of the cysters on this site. Welcome Erika! I too am a newbie. I was just diagnosed on 11/3 so I'm new to PCOS and new to SC. I share your sentiments - finding this site and all these wonderful people has been such a blessing - as it always is to find people that know how you feel. I find this board puts me at ease sometimes to hear I'm not imagining my symptoms - and this board has also given me hope that we can all live a healthy life with this disease.
