Hey Ladies,
I was wondering if anyone has taken Norethindrone (aygestin) to bring on Aunt Flow????

My OB/GYN gave me Provera twice and one time AF didn't show at all.

Now I have started seeing a reproductive endocrinologist. He prescribed me Aygestin to bring AF. This was after two vaginal ultrasounds that showed no ovaulation and super low progesterone levels :-( He said lets just not waste time (since I was only one day 20) and start the Aygestin now. His nurse told me that this stuff will "clean me out" since I have a corpus letum still left over (showed on both U/S).

Once AF comes I'm suppose to call him to schedule another vaginal U/S...does this mean he'll do that while AF is here????? AHH. That seems wrong. Has anyone ever had that???

Hello,

Aygestin is what I take to bring on AF, it works really well, one thing I don't like it the PMS associated with it. My breasts become tender and I get moody, your normal stuff. Usually within 2 days after I take the last pill AF comes and it is a "normal" AF, mine aren't as heavy as they used to be when I used to have a somewhat normal cycle.

As for the ultrasound, can't help you there. I've never had a vaginal US, only had the other type of US when I was diagnosed about 5 years ago. That was the only time I saw an RE, in the mean time I moved and now my OB and GP take care of my PCOS issues.

I can help on both issues.

This is the only medicine I have ever used to bring on AF. It usually is within 3-7 days for me after I take the last pill. It has never failed.

Yes, it is common to have a vaginal ultrasound while on AF. It sounds yucky and gross, but plenty of protection is put on the table. The dr needs to see what is going on inside while AF is here.
