I've had a couple of women tell me that anytime they were pregnant with either a boy or girl they would miscarry only being able to carry the opposite sex to full term. This lady i know only has girls she miscarried evertime she would get pregnant with a boy. Has anyone heard of that it cause of the chromosomes.

A genetic counseler would probably be able to give you more specific instances or details... |

I think that I read that a mothers body can sometimes see a boy baby as an intruder and m/c the baby. I'll have to see if I can find where I read it. I do think that it is extremely rare for that to happen. |

This was coming from a friend of the family who is a L&D nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Not sure if i believe her, but my loss only gave her more proof for her theory.

| That's what antiphospholipid antibody syndrome does too (not necessarily towards either gender, though.)
I've read in several places that boy babies (pre-born or preemie) tend to be "weaker" than female babies (pre-born or preemie) and also that "babies of color" seem to have better survival statistics than Caucasian babies. I don't know where I read it, but I've seen it in a few places. |

I have m/c 3 girls in my lifetime. Testing confirmed girls but could not give me a reason for the m/c. My niece (who is also my age) also has 4 boys. She doesnt have Pcos, but has also m/c 2 girls mid pregnancy that they confirmed i/c.
I always considered it a cruel fluke until my last lost. Now I'm sure its just something that wont let me carry a girl to term.

If a genetic reason IS found, a geneticist can make sure, through IVF, that a woman only gets pregnant with babies that she can carry.

It could go farther back but that's as far back as they've been able to track. The husband determines the sex of the baby. When we m/c I had this feeling that it was a girl. We didn't have the testing done and I've regretted that. I'm pretty sure that there is something wrong with the female chromosone in dh's family and that's why there have been no girls born. My mother in law had a m/c also and just knew it was a girl also. Quote: |

| While I'm not sure of whether or not the sex of the baby has anything to do with whether or not we can carry the baby full term I do think that sometimes it has to do with the female or male chromosone's being defective. As much as I'd love to have a girl part of me prays it's not because I'm afraid we'd m/c again.
