Has anyone adopted or know anyone who has adopted from Ethiopia?
I was on here several months ago but decided to continue TTC on my own a bit longer. Well in a nutshell I didn't really get anywhere other than o'ing one month out of 8. We went to an informative meeting held by Children's Hope International last weekend. Even though we have talked about it for many months now, after this meeting DH and I really felt that we really need to do adoption.
My DH and I are thinking of adopting from Ethiopia. Has anyone else adopted from there? We have a friend who is currently waiting for her referral for two girls from there...she is using Dove Adoptions. I have contacted Dove for more information but have yet to hear anything. I know at this time only 4 agencies are licensed through the country. At the end of the month Children's Hope International is supposed to have their license signed so they can too.
I am trying to research everything I can but am starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. I have found a group here in the area for families that adopt African children and then have the one friend who is doing adoption now. What is the best way to find out more information on agencies, countries, etc.?
DeeAnn- I really encourage you to seek out other families who have adopted from Ethiopia. I would call some of the agencies who are licensed for that country and ask if they have families who are willing to speak with you. I know that with Liberia, the only way we have gotten this far is the resource we have found in other families. We have supported each other through absolutely everything, and the families who have their kids home already are 100% still in there helping those of us who are still waiting.
