I am on 1500 met. I know that I shouldn't be messing with medicine, but I was thinking of upping it to 2000 a day. I have not had any side effects, and I have also not really lost any weight, nor have my cycles been any shorter. I was really hopinf that Met was going to be some miracle drug, but I don't think I have even noticed any difference.
Oh, and my liver and kidney panels looked fine, so they are not worried about the effect it has had on my body.
Do you think that the doctor would change it if I asked? Or will he think I am trying to be my own doctor?
You won't be able to change it on your own for long. You will run out of meds before you will be able to get a refill. Pharmacies have strict rules about how soon they can refill a prescription.
If you up your dosage on your own and your doctor does a blood test for something, he will see that your dosage is higher than it should be. I'm not telling you that you shouldn't do it, but i would consult the doctor before doing it. He might be thinking the same thing you are.. he or she might want to up the dosage, but wanted to make sure that you were fine and ready before they contunied with upping it.
good luck, ashley.

I agree with the pp, if you increase your dosage on your own, you will run out too soon. Definitely talk to your doctor and ask for an increase. I don't see why he/she wouldn't allow you to try a higher dosage so long as you understand the risks (if any) and will decrease your dosage if it affects you negatively. My doctor is very open to patients taking their tratment into their own hands so long as they understand what they are doing. His mentality is "Sure why not? Let's try it out." Hopefully you'll get the same response. I've read about 4 different posts around here where cysters were on 1500mg of Met for a while only to increase their dosage to 2000mg and get a BFP the next month. I can't wait to finally start taking 1500mg this weekend (I had to increase slowly because of dizziness).
Best wishes.

It's funny that you mention this because I was JUST thinking the same thing this morning about my dosage. I am currently on 1000mg and have no side effects. I am wanting to up my dosage and was contemplating doing it now, before I see my doc. But my heart tells me not to do so until I see him...

I see him this month, but I don't want to call again. Maybe I will wait since this is my first femara cycle. I am just frustrated with not having any positive effects from the Met. I hate seeing all the people on here who have lost weight without even trying. I have been trying and have only lost 4 pounds in 6 months.
