I continued my met. for the first trimester, but I had to really fight the dr. on that one, she wouldn't prescribe it for me and told me there was no need for it in the first place. I had to tell her what I wanted to do to try to get pregnant, and then what I wanted to do after I finally got pregnant. It's up to you I guess, but I would stick with it for at least the first trimester based on what I've read here on the boards.

For my first the doc & pharmasist both said " oh no no no don't take it!" then i ran into a doc who was curious why I didn't stay on it. So my second prego I stayed on it for what was it like 1 month or 2 or so, I never with the 2 pregnacys had GD problems or such! (strong like bull!) ha ha.... but I noticed that with my first I gained major weight! and then was fighting afterwards to get it back off! with my second I lost a little weight! not like scary or anything the doc was pleased actually! So I was just wondering if i droped down to 500mg it might be just enough in my system for the baby to gain and not me!

My first girl Felicity~ came at 38 weeks, 7lbs8oz., 21 1/2 " long! Black curly hair!
My second Doll, Samantha~came at 38 weeks, 7lbs6oz.,21"long more pettite blonde blonde like daddy!
and surprisingly bothe born on the 4th of the month!

There is a new study came out in Jan.. that met DOESNT reduce the chance of MC.. it actually add;s to it.. A fertilty Clinic in LA did the study.. at

My doc has me staying on 2g metformin daily the entire time. He is very current in the literature and said that it is decreasing my m/c risk. So far this pg is going way better than the first - I wasn't on met last time because I hadn't been taking it when I got pg.

When I went to see my dr in Mar about starting up our treatment again, I asked him about staying on Met for the first trimester but he did not recomend it saying there isn't any proof that it prevents m/c and no proof that it's not tetragenic. He did tell me that if I wanted to stay on it that he would make sure I fully understood the risks but I could stay on it if I wanted to. DH doesn't want me to stay on it though but also says it's my choice.

My doctor is a family practice doc. She's having me stay on 1500 mg the entire pregnancy.
