Default Has anyone else noticed increased hair in spring/summer?

I know this is the strangest question, but I have noticed the past several years that I have more hair growth in all the wrong places (and it is darker too) in the spring/summer months and less in fall/winter. Anyone else have this problem? And no, it isn't because I shave more in the summer because Lord knows most of us have to shave daily anyway!

Just curious

I think the hair on my legs grows slower in the winter time. It's still the same, just slower growth. Or maybe it just seems that way to me. I know this wasn't much help, maybe someone else can relate better than I can. Sorry.

I've never noticed anything about the full moon, but that is interesting. I know there can be a lot of strange things associated w/ a full moon Why not increased hair growth!
Just one more fun thing associated w/ PCOS, huh? HA HA!

I think my leg hair grows slower in the winter too. Unless I get goosebumps anyway!

Thanks for your responses squidge63 and happytoknow!

A hairdresser told me years ago that hair grows faster in summer than it does in winter. I imagine that applies to all hair, not just the hair on your head.

Thanks for the info! I wonder if it has anything to do w/ vitamin D synthesis since your body makes this when exposed to sunlight????

Thanks KC1

You are welcome Hopen, not sure about the vitamin D, although... that is a good question.

I read somewhere that hair grows more in warm weather. Not sure if this is true, but it makes sense.

I suppose if you think about it, it's like how all things animal and plant grow/reproduce in warmer months. Flowers/plants etc grow quicker with increased exposure to sunlight, baby lambs and calves being born signify the end of Winter and the start of Spring. You may also notice your nails grow quicker in summer - I know I do, along with my head hair too! Maybe it is that sunlight/vitamin D thing? Not sure about the full moon thing though? I will check at the next full moon to see if I resemble a werewolf even more than usual

Default summer hair

I went through boot camp last summer in june and july up in great mistakes illinois... and the hair growth on my face was so much worse.... It was in the end of July when one of the RDCs in my ship kept getting on my case about it. Thank god as ships staff with all night watches, i rarely dealt with him in the day time... When I got here in august, my gyno told me it was cause of the heat/humidity/the stress or something like that. I never reallyhad problems this bad in colorado, but when i got to Great Lakes and then to here in SC its been really bad... and yet, in both places, my leg hair growth has slowed....

Who knows... but yeah, i thnk its worse in spring/summer

Allison
