Unhappy Has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone!

Maybe I dreaming but I feel like the longer time seems to pass - the worse my menstrual cycles get and the more things happen in between. I am currently only being treated with birth control and it is NOT helping AT ALL. To be quite honest, I don't think my doctor knows very much about this disease. Throughout the years, my periods have become debilitating - i have been prescribed a narcotic for 2 weeks out of every month because it gets so bad. New Years Eve (my last menstrual cycle), I had severe bleeding that didn't last very long, and then later that night i experienced excruciating pain (almost twisting like pain) near my right ovary. The next day, i started passing these tissue like things. I went to the doctors, i didn't have a miscarriage but she didn't sound all too concerned either. They never do, do they - because they're not the ones going through it! Anyways, now I am days away from my next menstrual cycle and i am so uncomfortable - it's like childbirth i guess, they say once you've had the baby you forget about how much pain you were actually in. It's almost like I'm surprised each month at how bad the pain actually is. I am having severe bloating and gas, and severe joint/muscle pain. I feel like a walking time-bomb ready to go off at any moment. I had an ultrasound in September showing i had 2 small cysts on my right ovary and i think they have gotten bigger because i get pain down my leg (which i usually get when i have a large cyst).. not to mention my low libido, i feel so bad for my boyfriend.. i want to have sex!! I just can't find the will too.. what is this disease doing to us?! Not to mention the severe mood swings - i was just diagnosed with bipolar disorder and i have a feeling maybe my pcos is just so out of wack that its causing manic episodes. Has anyone experienced any of this? There are thousands of people on this website, and yet somehow.. I still feel so alone

1st Get a Reproductive Endocrinologist/OB-GYN. It's important that your physician knows what they are doing, then you can start tackling each symptom.

Def switch your doctor, if you are passing tissue like things, that is NOT ok, and they shoudln't blow you off. An RE will fully understand what you're going through and most likely be loads more helpful...and you are NEVER alone on this site :o)

Well, I'm newly diagnosed with PCOS, but I have had many other problems in the past, along with the tissue like things.. which i found out really were just clots being passed. I would pressure your doctor to finding the cause, you may have something other than pcos, and at the very least need better treatment than your pain being masked with narcotics, tell your doc that you want to know what the underlying problem is and FIX it, not just mask it. I sure hope you get it figured out, I can't imagine what you are going through. Good luck.

your not alone!! I was in your same situation (still am in that situation but its a whole lot better) what helped me was seeing an endocrinologist regularly and Metformin. I would'nt get my period for months at a time but when I did I would bleed for weeks sometimes months! my periods are still irregular but i dont get clots any more like I used to and it lasts for only about a week. Dont give up! and try to find a doctor that is familure with PCOS!! Good Luck
