Has anyone gained weight on Avandia but NOT on Actos?

My endocrinologist doesn't prescribe Actos because he has found it to cause weight gain more so than Avandia. So I was on the Avandia (4mg/day) for about a month and a half... and I gained 12 pounds. 10 of that came off within a week of stopping the Avandia.

Now I am thinking I will just try harder to work on my diet/exercise and just take met... but I don't know. I have been on met for years... I am not sure it will ever do everything for me I would like it to do. It helps me with my weight but not so much with cycles. OTOH maybe I haven't tried hard enough to meet it half way...

ANYWAY though Iam wondering. Maybe I should see if my doctor will let me try Actos instead? But if he has seen Actos as having a worse track record for weight gain as a general rule... is it ridiculous for me to think it won't make me gain weight when Avandia, which is supposed to be better, did?

I'm on Actos, I've never been on Avandia but Actos makes me feel great. I haven't gained any weight, only lost. Just my experience though.

I know this isn't exactally what you asked about... but I have gained weight on Actos... a good 20-25 pounds I would guess.... ugh... but it seems to be helping my insulin resistance!
