Question Has Anyone Gotten Pregnant Using Natural Remedies?

Hi.

I'm 39 years old, and currently taking Met. & BCP. Without going into my entire history, I will say that I miscarried w/blighted ovum at the beginning of the year, and swore off TTC ever again.

Well...I'm thinking about it again, but do not want to go the traditional route. I'm considering using natural herbs, but not sure what to use or in what combination. Here are my questions:

- Do you use npc AND Vitex?
- Only npc?
- Only Vitex?
- Doesn't npc suppress ovulation like Provera?
- I do not cycle on my own. If I wanted to use npc and/or Vitex,
when would I start?
- Has anyone here conceived and carried to term using these methods?

Thanks.

Wendy

I haven't, but there are some stories on here if you search through old posts.

I can't really answer any questions on vitex (doesn't do a thing for me) or npc (can't get it over here without a prescription, to my knowledge). I do know I have read some posts where people did get very good results though.

Good luck.

Default Scary!

86 people have read this post, and no one has a positive reply. Maybe I won't go the natural route after all.

Scary.

Thanks for reading.

Best wishes to all,
Wendy.

Wendy.... calm down babe... many people read and if they have nothing to add they continue on to the next post! 86 read out of over 10,000 members is not a lot! Chill out a bit...it is the holidays people ARE busy and not on the site all that much.

I use NPC and Vitex. Just started about 2 weeks ago (maybe less). On my 4th day of using NPC I started AF!! I also take Met but for some reason AF stopped coming, that is what made me decide to go and get NPC. I'm glad I did, I had a full AF for about 6/7 days!! It was great (well not really but you know what I mean)!

I also take Vitex and Dong Quai. I haven't noticed a change in "me" but I guess we'll see if I can ovulate on my own since only Clomid has been able to help with that.

Many women take Vitex and NPC together and many women only feel the need for NCP. I think you need to look into them both and see what's right for you personally. I have never O'd on my own and Vitex is supposed to help with that. So I chose to use NPC to start AF (which it did as I said above) and then chose to start Vitex and Dong Quai to see if I can O on my own!!

I can let you know in a couple weeks, but I just ended AF the day before X-mas Eve so I haven't been using it a full cycle yet to see what happens!!

Good luck to you....

P.S.

You can start NPC and Vitex at any time. I was on day 85 or something when I started and AF came shortly after, seemed to work great for me... the NPC anyways!

Take Care!!

Torrie,

You take me wrong. I wasn't complaining that no one responded. I thought it was bad that of 86 people, no one had success getting pregnant.

So, there's no need for me to "calm down," babe -- or chill.

(BTW - this type of language can be taken wrong in writing, as one can not hear another's "tone" when they write. I suggest you stick to plain English when you post. Or maybe it's just me...the difference between being 22 and 39.)

Good luck. I hope you see the results you want.

Wendy.

To me that's a complaint, sorry. Second of all, as I said before, people browse around on these boards to topics they *think* they might be interested in and then read it and find their not. So you cannot assume that 86 people that viewed this thread (probably more now) had tried herbal remedies and none of those 86 got pregnant...lol. That's all I was trying to explain to you.

P.S.

Did you ever do the search like another Cyster suggested to find answers? Sometimes we have to do that when we don't get many responses to our posts...or atleast ones we don't like (that happens quite often).

Yes, it is still the holidays and people are out and about. As indicated in your post, you DID seem uptight that you weren't receiving (what you call) positive responses that's why I said to calm down and chill you'll get them.

Also the 17 year age difference could be a factor if you don't use modern "lingo" or slang sometimes.

Wendy,

I do not cycle on my own without the help of BCP either. I conceived my DD on 100mg of Clomid. I have since gone off BCP to try a more natural approach to AF (I am not actively TTC, but if is happens - great!) I started Vitex on the Sunday after AF just as I would have started a new pack of BCP. It took 43 days to get AF. I was trying to chart during the meantime, but I was not getting accurate temperatures because my DD was waking during the night causing me to not get 4 consecutive hours of sleep. Anyway, I did get AF. It started as a light spotting for about a week before AF was heavy enough for a tampon. Now, 26 days into my next cycle I started spotting again. Similarly, 9 days later I am still spotting with the need to use a tampon sparingly. I am contemplating the use of NCP with Vitex to help control the spotting. I will probably start it on day 14 (in 6 more days) as many women have recommended on this site. Since the Vitex has brought on AF, I am hoping the NCP will help me O and even out my cycles and give me a more *normal* AF.

So, to answer your question, I personally have not successfully conceived naturally although I am hoping to do so in the near future.

Good luck,

I'm going to jump in with my 2 cents worth. I'm 35, and haven't been able to get pregnant... went the Met route.. didn't work, went the clomid route.. didn't work. I swore off TTC for about 6 months. I know I can't go back to met or clomid.. I was just too sick.

I just recently..(within the last week) decided to try the natural route.. more of a holistic approach. My idea is that I am going to "gently" take care of my body.. with altered eating habits.. moderate exercise... and supplements.

I've done a ton of reading, and while I know NO ONE personally who has had success... I've read enough studies on some of the herbs I am taking to be very encouraged.

My thoughts are.. at this age, and my past failures at TTC...what do I have to lose?

If you feel like you want to give them a shot... we could keep in touch, and compare notes...

Just for your benefit.. here is the plan I've come up with for me... (everyone has to figure out what they need..

1. NPC... 14 days on... 14 days off.. ( I already know that I have a progesterone problem.. so, this will be very helpful for me!) Like Torie I was on it 4 days and got AF... so.. this is very promising..

2. Saw palmetto... I tried this several years back for 4 months and was almost as regular as clockwork. Prior to and after that, I have not been able to have AF on my own, and I certainly don't ovulate. So.. since I had past success, I figure that there must be something in the herb that my body needs to regulate itself...

3. vitex... I have read some amazing studies on this herb... I've been on it a week, and so, it's too soon to tell if this is going to help.. but, I can report that I was having severe depression.. and it cleared up over night!!!! I don't know if this was due to vitex, or the saw palmetto.. but... it is 100% improvement!

I am going to try these three things for about 3-4 months... if I am still not ovulating on my own I am going to add dong quai.. it is supposed to act like an herbal clomid.. but, much gentler on the body.

Also, I intend to add 1 cup of raspberry leaf tea a day.. this is supposed to tone the uterus.... This probably won't help me get pregnant.. but, it is just a wonderful way to increase the health of my female organs...

In addition.. I am working towards a low carb diet... adding swimming and increasing my overal nutrition...

Anyway.. sorry so long.. I just wanted to give you my take on all this..

Unfortunately.. most people on this board go the "medical route".. I just have noticed that there is very little activity on the Alternative board... so.. it is possible that you may not hear from alot of people here... but, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't give herbs a try.. I hope this makes sense..

To you, exactly.

Okay. I also know how these boards work. I've been here (although recently re-registered) since Kat started this website.

P.S.

"Did you ever do the search like another Cyster suggested to find answers? Sometimes we have to do that when we don't get many responses to our posts...or atleast ones we don't like (that happens quite often)."

Yup, did it.

"Yes, it is still the holidays and people are out and about. As indicated in your post, you DID seem uptight"

To you.

"that you weren't receiving (what you call) positive responses that's why I said to calm down and chill you'll get them."

I wasn't looking for positive responses to my posting. I was hoping to hear that somene had gotten pregnant using alternative remedies. I may not be explaining this well, but I know what I mean.

"Also the 17 year age difference could be a factor if you don't use modern "lingo" or slang sometimes. "

I use it all the time, but not with strangers, and not on the Internet. I find it rude, babe.

scarletakb,

Thanks for writing. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet -- if anything. I'm just exploring right now, which is why I wanted to know if anyone has gotten pregnant using these remedies. I know many women who have been successful with getting regular cycles, but none who have succeeded with getting pregnant. It doesn't really make sense to me.

I have a long, long, long history that I won't completely go into here. In a nut shell, I only produced one egg after years of fertility treatments, and that ended in a blighted ovum. I physically react very poorly to drugs -- they make me quite sick -- so I know I don't want to go that route again. I don't know if I want to go any route.

I appreciate your reply, and wish you the best of health and success.

Wendy.

Jill,

Congratulations on being successful with your daughter. How come you don't want to go the Clomid route again, when you had success?

Good luck with the natural way. I hope to learn of your success.

Scarletakb,
sounds like a good plan, good recipe you got there. I am going to the store tomorrow to get something similar (I tried today but it was closed!)
I did as well try the conventionnal route with met and clomid and IUI and the whole nightmare of the fertility clinic. I had to go back on the bcp but I finally decided to stop it this w-e. So, here is my plan:

Day 26 to 3: Nothing
Day 5 to 12 (or something like this): Vitex, Saw palmetto, Red Raspberry leaf, Fo-ti, and Dong Quai
Day12- 26 (and hopefully AF will come)Fo-Ti, Saw Palmetto, NPC

I am getting everything in the tincture form since absorption is better this way except for the NPC ... obviously!

My goal is to feel better because I feel like... $%&#$%$#&%^*%

and if I can ovulate and live in hope at least, I think I'll be OK.

Best Wishes to All,

Connie

coniela... oooo.. oooo.. ooo.. you peaked my interest!! Why "fo ti"??? Do you know something I don't? One of my addictions is my hair.. I've been trying to grow my hair long, and one of the problems I have is excessive grey hair.. for my age, that is. Fo ti is supposed to re-establish the color to premature grey hair.. But, I didn't know of any effects it has on your reproductive system.. ..

So.. please tell me why you decided to use that...

Wendy,

"How come you don't want to go the Clomid route again, when you had success?"

I HATE taking medications if I don't have to!!! I feel blessed to have a DD so if another comes along naturally that would be wonderful. DH and I are convinced we don't want to go down the fertility treatment road again. Aside from that, I feel 110% better taking a more holistic approach opposed to BCP.

That's why

Jill,

I completely understand. The drugs, especially Clomid, are ferocious! Although we eventually conceived using Clomid, you couldn't pay me to use it again.

I guess I also answered my own question. LOL.

Thanks and good luck!

Wendy.
