I had my thyroid u/s done yesterday and go to the dr tomorrow to hear the results. I did see there was a 5mm cystic focus on the left lobe of my thyroid. Has anyone ever had one? Obviously I'll find out more if I need to be concerned tomorrow at my appt but I just wanted to see if others had ever encountered it. TIA.

Yeah, I've had 2 thyroid nodules that they've been monitoring for a few years. They're very common and are usually not a concern until they exceed 10mm. I wonder how they knew your's was a cyst versus a more general nodule. I didn't think they could tell that from an ultrasound.

One of mine grew to 11 mm, and I had to go for a fine needle aspiration biopsy. It hurt, but at least I found out that it was nothing to get concerned about. Now I just have to go every year to get it looked at to make sure it doesn't grow too big.
