Default Has anyone had good results with...

I was wondering, has anybody been able to have good results without the drugs, but by losing weight and controlling diet? Before I began taking Diane 35 , I had a lot of dark course hair in many places and it had been getting worse every yr from age 15, also I am insulin resistant and my weight was an issue as well. But I lost 40 lbs and also started taking Diane 35, it helped with the excess hair, but I quit taking it to try to get pregnant, and now 3 months later I have a rapidly receding hairline. I am going to start taking the pill again and follow a strict diet, I don't have the money to be going on all kinds of pills, nor the tolerance to take them all, so I am looking for hope here. Has anyone body had results with weight loss and diet alone, or maybe with just one or two meds?

I have! I have lost 34 lbs. I was on the pill, but nothing else. Met made me sick. Ever since losing it, my extra hair is getting less and less noticeable. I think I ovulated on my own this month for the first time, I am ttc right now, testing it out to see if the weight loss has helped at all.
One little piece of advice though, don't restrict yourself too much. Its ok to have an occasional treat! Also since stopping the BCPs I have not gained any of it back. You can do it I know you can!
I still have about 50lbs to go, but I need to TTC, I am not getting any younger! I still watch what I eat, but I can get back to weight loss after the children are done! LOL.
Good luck. YOU CAN DO IT!

Yep, diet alone, didn't need to lose the weight because I didn't have it to lose. Just the diet needed a change. Got pregnant and no more acne, those were my symptoms.

Thank you ladies so much for your replies. It really helps to hear that it can be done without so many drugs and medical intervention. That's just the motivation I needed!!!

A change of lifestyle helped me alot too. I wasn't very overweight so I needed to lose around 10 kg (20 pounds) and even that made a difference. My doctor said that in general losing 10% of your body weight should hopefully show results in terms of lessening PCOS symptoms.

I'm not sure about my PCO but my acne, facial hair, and periods were all sorted by the weight loss (combination of exercise, weightwatchers and low GI), and I'm not pg after only 2 months of ttc.
